You had fallen in love with Katie since the first 'Hello.' You've always been a sucker for accents so it didn't surprised that you had developed a crush on your apartment neighbor. For the sake of pretending to not have a crush on her, you would always offer up your help. She would always thank you but not took you up on her offer until she ended up having some trouble with her computer. Not knowing anything about computers, you quickly searched her problem and hoped to god you would be able to fix it. Luck was on your side when 10 minutes later, her laptop turned back on. Ever since then the two of you became friends.

After coming over to each other's places so often, the two of you became close friends. Close enough that both of your group of friends knew about the other. Whenever her friends visited, she would always invite and so on. It was clear to both groups that the two of you had feelings for each other and they hated that. Neither of them wanted for you to get together. Katie's friends hated you because Katie wouldn't stop talking about you and your friends hated Katie because you wouldn't shut up about her. They tried getting the two of you to get together but nothing worked so they just gave up and hoped both of you would figure things out.
And you did. One night during one of your sleepovers at Katie's apartment, the two of you kissed and ended up hooking up.

Neither of you were sure how to handle your feelings but both of you knew that you wanted each other. Not wanting to put any labels on anything, the relationship was kept a secret. The two of you wouldn't go on dates to avoid being seen by fans or papparazzi's so both of you would just come over to the other's apartments to make out and eventually fuck.

You were fine at the beginning with just hooking up with Katie because you had a giant crush on her but the longer the two of you hooked up, the more you wanted to have an actual relationship with Katie. You tried to bring it up to her but she would always come up with excuses about why it wasn't a good idea. All these excuses that she gave you almost made you want to quit what the two of you had but you didn't. You really liked her and you were sure that eventually Katie would agree to be your girlfriend.

When you heard that you ended up getting the promotion at your job, you couldn't wait to tell Katie. As soon as you were able to leave, you had asked to come over and when she said that she was free, you bought some celebratory wine to celebrate with her and headed to her place.
You weren't sure if it was your excitement or what but you kissed Katie as soon as she opened the door for you. Not wanting to be seen by the other nosy neighbors. Katie pulls you in, gently pushing you against the door as she closes it. The two of you finally pull away when you both need to catch your breath.
"Be my girlfriend?"
You ask her out of nowhere.
"(y/n), we've talked about this. I'm not ready to be in a relationship."
"I know it's because you're afraid of what they'll say about us but I don't care. I just want to be with you. I want to be able to take you out on dates and buy your gifts and do all those couple things."
Katie sighed and stepped back away from you.
"I don't want for people to talk bad about you. I don't care if they say things about me but I can't stand the thought of people saying bad things to you."

"Then we'll keep our relationship a secret. No one has to know. I just want to be with you, Katie."
Katie gives you a small smile and cups your cheek to pull you in for a kiss.
"Just us for now and then we can announce it to the world."
