Dance Classes

*four weeks later*

Catra was pushing herself to the limit. Running 10 laps around the castle, doubling the length of her HIIT workouts, wearing something called a 'sauna suit' that Glimmer told her about, sparred with Bow and the cadets with ankle weights and wrist weights. She even had Adora sit on her back when she did her pushups. BUT when it came to two weeks of dance classes and learning how to play a damn instrument she struggled the most.

"Come on Catra! Its one- two- three- four and side step one- two- three- four- a step back one- two- three- four- a step to the side one-two- three- four and a step to the front". Bow says trying to coach the lost feline that stepped on the poor lady that was helping her dance foot. Catra mutters an apology before shutting the music off and turning to Bow. Catra growls and says frustration clear in her voice, "I can spar. I can take on a fucking 8 ft tall warrior princess. a facist dictator. BUT, I cant learn how to do a simple fucking dance!".

"But you can!"

"Bow I cant, we've been at this for hours and I still cant get this right! I wont ever get to impress Adora and she wont even say yes to when I ask her to be my girlfriend".

"Hey! Dont be stupid alright Catra? You know Adora loves you. Of course she'll say yes. But this isnt only for asking her out you know... you'll need to learn these basic moves for balls, proms, parties, weddings, etc".

"I know! I know, its a simple dance blah blah".

" you're good at sparring right? And fighting? Well dancing is kind of like that".

Catra raises a brow at the man in front of her and says incredulously, "What in the fuck are you on about?".  Bow chuckles and puts a hand on her shoulder and says, "Watch the way my feet and  I move ok?". Catra grumbles and pulls a chair from beside her and sits down next to the woman that was helping her, feeling her pride already wearing down. How the hell did I even get myself in this mess? Catra thinks to herself, huffing before Bow puts on the music and starts dancing like it was nothing. Catra's eyes widened when she realized that Bow could be right. Fighting and Sparring is about being able to relax and shift your weight on the balls of your feet and using your hips and shoulders to keep your power and strength.

Bow stops the music and walks over to her and says, "You get what I mean now Catra? Dancing is as easy as sparring and fighting. You just need to feel like you're in that moment. Feel the music and let your body dance for you". Catra grins softly and stands up saying, "Yeah I think I know what you mean". Bow smiles and says, "Would you like to try again?". Catra nods and turns to the lady that was sitting next to her and offered her hand.

"Shall we continue ?"

The woman nods and takes her hand and Catra walks them over to the dance floor. Catra bows, before standing straight and waiting for the other woman to bow aswell. Once they get that over with, Catra raises her left hand up and the woman puts her left hand in Catra's before putting a hand on Catra's right shoulder and swaying to the beat Bow set for them. 1- 2- 3- 4 Catra thinks to herself before stepping to the side. 1-2-3-4 again the pair step backwards and they follow the instructions that Bow gave them before Catra began feeling light on her feet, her body relaxed and she felt the way the music took control.

Bow claps when Catra twirls the woman around and dips her over her knee flawlessly. Catra lifts her up and brought the woman close to her chest before pulling her away with a flick of the wrist and pulling her back in, the woman putting a hand on both of Catra's shoulders and Catra keeping her hands respectfully at the woman's side and they swayed.

Bow stops the music and claps proud of the work he has accomplished with Catra. "Alright! It looks like we've got your dancing skills out of ya! Go get some water player, we need to work on your song choice and if you're going to play an instrument or not". Catra pulled away from the woman before patting Bow's shoulder and walking over to the water fountain across the hall. Catra leaned down and started lapping up the water, sighing and standing straight almost jumping in place when she felt a hand on her arm. The woman smiled  and says, "You know you had two left feet earlier, commander. How is it that you switched up so quickly?".
