I opened my eyes to a bright light, I blinked and for a minute I forgot where I was. A loud ringing hurt my ears and I groaned before the ringing went away. I tried to sit up, but my body wouldnt move. What is this?!. I looked around, my eyes widening when I saw Kade next to me, his left arm was gone as his blood covered the floor. I watched as his eyes fluttered open.
I finally felt some movement in my body, and attempted to use my right arm to sit myself up only for me to fall onto my side. I hit the gravel with a groan. What happened?! Why do I feel different? I looked down, my heart dropped when I saw that my arm was missing just like Kade's blood leaking from my wound and onto the ground. I roll myself over, so I was laying on my back. I groaned, trying to use my left arm only for it to wobble under me sending me back onto the ground.
"I-Its no use Catra", Kade rasps his eyes meeting mine. I sigh and close my eyes taking in the warmth of the sun.

"H-Hey Catra?", Kade asks shakily. I open my eyes and turn to face him and hum, "Hmm?". Kade turned to me, and did something that shook me to the core. He smiled. A smile that reached his eyes. "Did you expect this?", Kade asks a little laugh accompanying his question.
I chuckle and say, "I suppose not". Kade hummed, nodding and turning to face the sky. We laid in total silence, the sun hitting our battered bodies. "I-Im not going to m-make it kid", Kade spoke softly and suddenly. My eyes widened and I turned to face him immediately, only to be met by dark orbs. There's something new in his eyes. They're different.
"Wh-What are you talking about you idiot!", I demand my brows knitting together. Kade chuckled, before breaking into a fit of wet coughs blood spilling out of his mouth. I felt something in me kick start, and I used my semi-good arm to scoot over to him, wrapping my arm around his back and using the ounces of energy I had left to sit myself up and pulled his body onto my lap.
Kade finally stopped coughing and looked up at me. His eyes. His eyes werent dark. They didnt present the same malice as before. Is this the old Kade? The Kade I knew before. Kade smiled and wheezed, "I-I need to tell you so-something ba-baby sister". I nodded and stayed quiet as he spoke weakly.
"I-I wasnt strong en-enough to resist h-him. I-I chose hatred and ma-malice to h-hide my pa-pain a-and it ate me up. I-I couldnt k-kill you.. m-my baby sister because I knew you w-would be the one to s-save us all. I-I didnt want to k-kill mother. father. Th-Those innocent people b-but I was weak. I-Im so sorry Catra", Kade spoke waveringly his brows knitting together as tears streamed down his bloodied cheeks. I felt my own eyes brimming with tears with his words. "I-Im sorry I-I couldnt be strong for you. I was selfish... a-and I failed as a brother". Kade said before I heard his breathing start to be come short and labored.
"No, you can say this another time. Ok? I know you're sorry Kade. I know. I know you didnt want to kill them. I know this now", I say my heart breaking as I closed my eyes and let my tears fall. My eyes opened when I felt something on my forehead, I looked down at him through blurry eyes my eyes widening when I saw only love in his eyes and in his smile as he spoke, "Forgive me, Catrina. There won't be a next time. B-But know this..". I watched as he used his last ounce of energy left, leaning up removing his fingers from my forehead and using the bloody nub of his left arm he placed it on the back of my neck and pressed his forehead against mine.
"No matter what you decide from now on... I will love you forever... You don't have to forgive me Squirt. For I have you to thank... because now... I get to see my dear Umi", Kade whispered before he pulled back and pushed my head back with his fingers one last time, my eyes widening as his fingers slid down my face as he fell back breathing his last breath.

I shudder, looking into Kade's lifeless eyes. I close my eyes, letting my head fall in front of me as I sobbed. Before I knew it, it was raining. I gasped, falling backwards my eyes widening when I felt intense pain throughout my body but mostly in my right arm and chest. I looked up at the grey sky, before everything became black and I felt peace.
