This day feels surreal. This is really happening. The day I waited for so long, the day when I'll give my surname to her, the day when I can truly call her mine."Finally! You're getting married na Kuya!" Shazia pinched my cheeks.
"Stop it!" I glared at her. "You might crease the suit", I fixed my tie again just to be sure.
"Kahit naman I creased your suit, you'll still look good in it tsaka Ate Soleil won't notice that na!"
"Whatever. Go back to your seat na nga. The wedding's about to start", I lightly pushed her.
She pouted her lips muna before obeying me. She's somehow similar to Soleil, kaso nga lang if it was Soleil, she'd still be prideful while marching off and obeying me. I've always loved that about her. Oh, I love everything about her.
"Dumating na sila!"
Everyone settled down in their seats. My palms got cold and it almost feel like it's sweating. This feeling is so familiar to me even if I felt it only once, when I took the bar exam. I didn't know I'll experience this feeling again, for this occasion and for this special day.
The wooden doors of the church opened. It was like a scene from a movie. It was like as if the Sun followed her as she walks on the aisle. I can't see anything or anyone but her. I know that she really look good on white, sa white robe niya pa nga lang sa hospital nafall na ako kaagad sa kaniya. And now, I fell harder again.
"Ang ganda niya talaga", I whispered to myself.
I felt like I was waiting for her for century to get close to me. Her father handed me Soleil's hand and lightly tapped my shoulder. He was about to say something but he just shook his head and knowingly smiled at me. I get what he wants to say but he just don't want to get too emotional. The long wait is over.
I felt her quivering a bit so I lightly squeezed her hand. She glanced up at me. "Ganda ko noh?" she smirked but there was a faint nervousness in her voice.
"You always look beautiful but today you're specially gorgeous", I can't take my eyes off of her.
"Oo na lang. Kay Pastor na ang tingin, mamaya mainggit siya sa'tin tas hindi niya tayo ikasal", she bit her lip to stiffle a smile or maybe a laugh.
"You'll say 'I do', right?" I leaned closer to her.
"Bakit ka ba kabado? Hindi naman ako sisipot kung hindi ang isasagot ko sa'yo", she's stopping herself not to laugh.
"Well you're the only one who can make me nervous", I whispered again.
"Paano 'yung kaba?" she grinned. "Chill ka lang. Magiging misis mo na ako mamaya".
I bit my lower lip to stop myself from smiling. I guided her and as we both face the Pastor and also present ourselves in front of God. The bitter sweet memories flashed back.
Our story was messy, just like her. I remember asking my dad how would I know if she's the one. He simply answered.
"You'll know when you see her".
I thought it was a dumb answer because I'm not a manghuhula or something. But I ate my own words when I was 18 and I saw her on a video, that was the first time I saw her. Drunk and wasted. Kuya Arish had a vacation in Pangasinan specifically sa Dagupan so that explains how he had the video. He's crazy, tsk.
