258: INT. PAISLEY PARK (GUESTROOM) DAY FADE IN:

The next day, January 1st, 1991.

RACHAEL: (sleeping)

PRINCE: (nudges her) Rach.

RACHAEL: (mumbles)

PRINCE: Rach... Yo, wake up girl!

RACHAEL: (slowly opens her eyes) What the hell do you want?

PRINCE: Get up and meet me in the studio.

RACHAEL: (looks at the clock) It's 7 AM!

PRINCE: Just come on!

RACHAEL (sighs and gets up)

259: INT. PAISLEY PARK (STUDIO) DAY

Rachael records her next album.

RACHAEL: (comes in)

PRINCE: Well good morning sunshine!

RACHAEL: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

PRINCE: Well aren't we crabby this morning?

RACHAEL: Listen, it's 7 AM. I am not a morning person.

PRINCE: I can see that. First of all, how you feeling?

RACHAEL: Better I guess.

PRINCE: Better enough to sing?

RACHAEL: I think so.

PRINCE: Good, cuz you're recording three songs today for the new album. (gives her a lyric sheet)

RACHAEL: (reads the title) (raises her eyebrow) (reads it aloud trying to pronounce it) "B... Wanna?" How do you say this?

PRINCE: It's pronounced as "bwana." Ignore the apostrophe.

RACHAEL: So... B'wana?

PRINCE: You got it.

RACHAEL: (reads it again),"B'wana She No Home." What the heck does that even mean?

PRINCE: Don't question it, just sing it. (plays the track)

RACHAEL: (rolls her eyes) (grooves to the music) (starts singing)
Don't you ever invite your boyfriend here
I like to be here alone
You just answer the door and feed the deer
And fight the telephone
Got to learn these words and I know you will
Or I'll send you right back to Guayaquil
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
Got to peel your eyes for the heat my dear
You got to froth and foam
Got to send away the mad puppeteer
Who seems to think this is home
I want you to speak the English right
I want you to smile and be polite
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
I don't care if you drive my three-fifty honey
Don't let them steal my chrome
I don't care if you spend all my money honey
Long as you leave me alone
I just want you to try and remember one thing
If somebody knocks or the telephone rings
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home
Say b'wana she no home... (track fades)

PRINCE: You nailed it.

RACHAEL: Thanks!

PRINCE: All right, next up is "All You Get From Love Is A Love Song." (plays the track)

RACHAEL: (starts singing)
Like sailin' on a sailin' ship to nowhere
Love took over my heart like an ocean breeze
As seagulls fly I knew that I was losin'
Love was washed away with the driftin' tie
Oh it's a dirty old shame
When all you get from love is a love song
That's got you layin' up nights
Just waitin' for the music to start
It's such a dirty old shame
When you got to take the blame for a love song
Because the best love songs
Are written with a broken heart
And now the tears in my eyes are ever blinding
The future that lies before me I cannot see
Although tomorrow I know the sun is rising
Lighting up the world for everyone, but not for me
Oh it's a dirty old shame
When all you get from love is a love song
That's got you layin' up nights
Just waitin' for the music to start
It's such a dirty old shame
When you got to take the blame for a love song
Because the best love songs
Are written with a broken heart
Oh it's a dirty old shame
When all you get from love is a love song
That's got you layin' up nights
Just waitin' for the music to start
It's such a dirty old shame
When you got to take the blame for a love song
Because the best love songs
Are written with a broken heart
And it's a dirty old shame
When all you get from love is a love song
That's got you layin' up nights
Just waitin' for the music to start
It's such a dirty old shame... (track fades)
