Thanksgiving/Rachael's New Album (1992)

44 2 3

(A/N: Slight time skip. Also, the oldies covers you'll hear later are a part of the medley above but I took the ones out that featured Richard Carpenter because I don't particularly care for him. Anyway, carry on.)

414: INT. NEVERLAND RANCH (DINING ROOM) DAY FADE IN:

Two months later. Thanksgiving, 1992.

RACHAEL: Ok everybody, dinnertime! (carves the turkey) (starts passing the plates around)

PRINCE: Rach, I wanna get you back in the studio tomorrow.

RACHAEL: Ok, I actually have an idea. I wanna do an album of 60s covers combined with new songs.

PRINCE: Are you serious? Rach, I know you're working with this Neil Sedaka dude, but I think you're getting a little carried away with the oldies shit.

RACHAEL: Prince, I relate to the oldies. And you said it yourself, I have a knack for these old songs.

PRINCE: (sighs) Ok, but this is it with the oldies shit. I'm getting a little tired of it.

RACHAEL: Ok, ok. But um... Neil and I were discussing cutting a record together in the new year.

PRINCE: (rolls his eyes) Oh jeez, what is it with you and him? He's so... Feminine.

RACHAEL: Hey, Neil has a beautiful voice and he's so kind and charming.

PRINCE: Well whoopdie fucking do!

RACHAEL: What's up your ass today?

PRINCE: Nothing, I just don't see the attraction.

RACHAEL Oh shut up!

415: INT. PAISLEY PARK (STUDIO) DAY FADE IN:

The next day, Rachael is back in the studio recording her next album.

RACHAEL: (singing)
Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud, sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Just sing, sing a song
Sing, sing a song
Let the world sing along
Sing of love there could be
Sing for you and for me
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Just sing, sing a song
Just sing, sing a song
Just sing, sing a song... (track fades)

PRINCE: Great job Rach. Next up is "This Masquerade." (plays the track)

RACHAEL: (starts singing)
Are we really happy with this lonely game we play?
Looking for the right words to say
Searching but not finding understanding anyway
We're lost in this masquerade
Both afraid to say we're just too far away
From being close together from the start
We tried to talk it over but the words got in the way
We're lost inside this lonely game we play
Thoughts of leaving disappear each time I see your eyes
And no matter how hard I try
To understand the reason why we carry on this way
We're lost in this masquerade
We tried to talk it over but the words got in the way
We're lost inside this lonely game we play
Thoughts of leaving disappear each time I see your eyes
And no matter how hard I try
To understand the reason why we carry on this way
We're lost in a masquerade
We're lost in a masquerade
And we're lost in a masquerade... (track fades)
