176: INT. DRESSING ROOM NIGHT FADE IN:

One month later. April 8th, 1990.

RACHAEL: (doing her makeup) (phone rings) (answers it) Hello?

MICHAEL: (on the phone) Rachael.

RACHAEL: Michael? Honey, what is it? You sound like you're crying.

MICHAEL: (on the phone) (chokes up) Ryan's gone.

RACHAEL: (goes pale) (to herself) "Ryan as in Ryan White, one of Michael's closest friends. He was a boy from Indiana who was diagnosed with HIV after a bad blood transfusion. He put up a hard fight after he was barred from returning to school, he and Michael became close really quick..." Oh my God... Are you okay?

MICHAEL: (on the phone) It's not fair Rachael, if only I could've gotten there in time... (breaks down)

RACHAEL: Oh honey...

PRINCE: Rach, you ready?

RACHAEL: Sweetheart, I gotta go ok? I'll call you in a little while, I love you so much... Bye. (hangs up)

PRINCE: Everything okay?

RACHAEL: Ryan White just died.

PRINCE: Ryan White? You mean that kid who had AIDS and couldn't go back to school?

RACHAEL: Yeah... He and Michael were really close... Can we do Sometimes It Snows In April first tonight in honor of Ryan?

PRINCE: Sure Rachael, I'll get my guitar.

RACHAEL: I'll get my autoharp.

177: INT. STAGE NIGHT CUT TO:

Prince and Rachael honor Ryan White.

RACHAEL: (comes out) Good evening, there's been a slight change of plans. Tonight, a wonderful, bright young man was taken much too soon of a horrible disease. His name is Ryan White. (crowd cheers) He was a dear friend of Michael's. Tonight, we're gonna do a song in his memory and Prince is gonna help me while I pick away at my autoharp here. This is for you Ryan... (crowd cheers)

PRINCE: (starts playing)

RACHAEL: (starts strumming)

PRINCE: (starts singing)
Ah
Ah
Ah
Oh, oh
Do
Um da da, ah
Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war
Just after I'd wiped away his last tear
I guess he's better off than he was before
A whole lot better off than the fools he left here
I used to cry for Tracy 'cause he was my only friend
Those kind of cars don't pass you every day
I used to cry for Tracy 'cause I wanted to see him again
But sometimes, sometimes life ain't always the way...

RACHAEL: (both)
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish life was never ending
And all good things, they say, never last...

PRINCE:
Springtime was always my favorite time of year
A time for lovers holding hands in the rain
Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy's tears
Always cry for love, never cry for pain
He used to say so strong, oh unafraid to die
Unafraid of the death that left me hypnotized
No, staring at his picture I realized
No one could cry the way my Tracy cried...

RACHAEL: (both)
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending
And all good things, they say, never last...

PRINCE:
I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there
I know that he has found another friend
Maybe he's found the answer to all the April snow
Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again...

RACHAEL: (both)
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending
But all good things, they say, never last
All good things they say, never last
And love, it isn't love until it's past...

CROWD: (gives a standing ovation)

RACHAEL: (bows)

178: INT. LIMO NIGHT DISSOLVE TO:

Rachael gets a ride home with Prince.

PRINCE: I've never heard anyone sing that song like that, it was beautiful.

RACHAEL: Thanks Prince, that means a lot.

PRINCE: You gonna be alright?

RACHAEL: Yeah, I'll be fine. It's Michael I'm worried about. I'll see you soon. (gets out and goes inside)

179: INT. NEVERLAND RANCH (BEDROOM) NIGHT CUT TO:

Rachael comforts Michael.

RACHAEL: (comes in) Michael?

MICHAEL: (turns to her and smiles softly) Hi my sunshine.

RACHAEL: It's late, you should try to get some sleep. You've had a rough day.

MICHAEL: I'll go to bed in a minute.

RACHAEL: What are you doing?

MICHAEL: Well, I've been trying to write a song for Ryan to sing at the service... But I just can't finish it right now.

RACHAEL: (rubs his back lovingly) Oh honey, don't stress yourself. You can always come back to it another time.

MICHAEL: You wanna hear what I have so far?

RACHAEL: (rests her chin on his shoulder) Sure sweetheart.

MICHAEL: (reads the lyrics)
"Like a comet
Blazing 'cross the evening sky
Gone too soon
Like a rainbow
Fading in the twinkling of an eye
Gone too soon
Shiny and sparkly
And splendidly bright
Here one day
Gone one night..." That's all I have.

RACHAEL: That's beautiful.

MICHAEL: Thank you honey, I can't finish it though. I think I'm gonna go to bed now.

RACHAEL: Ok honey. (both lay down as she wraps her arms around him and falls asleep)

(A/N: I hope you guys liked this chapter. I wanna explain the pic a little bit. Sometimes It Snows In April has always been one of my favorite Prince songs and I could see my character singing it with him. I couldn't find any clips of Prince singing it with Wendy and Lisa so I used the studio version, I also could see my character playing autoharp to it. Karen Carpenter didn't play autoharp so I took a screen shot of Prince from a concert and photo shopped June Carter Cash into it. Anyway, next chapter will be up when I finish it, thanks for reading!!)
