CHAPTER 62 - FOREST

POV MASON

AOKIGAHARA Forest. I have been here before when I visited Yulia Kushnir for her birthday celebration. Unlike its forbidding reputation, the forest looks unexpectedly serene and calming.

"Mason!" sigaw ni Hailey nang biglang may pumulupot na sanga sa binti niya.

Mabilis siyang hinila palayo sa akin ng mga buhay na sanga bago ko pa siya nahawakan. Nagmadali akong tumakbo para sundan si Hailey at tila huminto ito sa isang lumang puno para itali doon si Hailey.

"Mason, sabi mo meron dito flesh-eating demons! Wala ka naman sinabing flesh-eating trees!" sigaw ni Hailey na pumipiglas habang nakatali siya sa puno.

Ang paa niya ay napapalibutan ng woody vines at ang kamay niya ay nakatali din na parang isang nasa cruxifiction.

"The forest can feel your dark magic. It is like a defense mechanism of the forest. You have to calm down, Hailey."

"Mason, anong gagawin ko? Bakit may monster trees dito?"

"I don't know. This part of the forest is already a school premise. Kent's potion should already work."

I tried to create a dagger using my black smoke ability. I attempted to cut the vines around Hailey's feet, but the vines seem to have a life of its own. It swiftly took the dagger away and cut my face."

"Mason!" sigaw ni Hailey nang makita niya na may hiwa ang mukha.

"This is nothing. A Healing Potion can fix this."

"But you are bleeding!"

"Just calm the fuck down, Hailey! The forest thinks you are an intruder with dark magic. Kent's potion and your collar are quite useless---"

I was not able to finish my sentence as the dagger made of black smoke is now attacking me. The moving vine seems to have control of it now. I guess it also felt the darkness in me even if I am already human. The attack just stopped after I dissipated the black smoke dagger.

"Mason, dumudugo ang braso mo!" naiiyak na sabi ni Hailey dahil may malaking hiwa ang coat ko.

"I can manage the pain. Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

Lumapit ako sa kanya at tinanggal ang ilang tuyong dahon sa buhok niya. Bukod sa gasgas sa kanyang pisngi ay wala naman siyang sugat.

"Okay lang ako. Hindi ko lang pinangarap ang ganitong klaseng BDSM. Bondage na sanga ng puno ang gamit," sagot niya sa akin na pilit tinatanggal ang nakapulupot na wooden vine sa dalawang kamay niya.

"I will call the Provost and advise her about what happened. I cannot use my power here as the forest seems to be too sensitive with your dark magic."

"Sinong Provost? Si Yulia? Ang ex mo?"

"She was not my ex. We just dated for a few---"

"Stop stop stop! Call anyone except her! Ayoko siya makita! I might strangle her neck!"

Napansin ko na biglang naging kulay itim ang mata ni Hailey. I remembered these dark eyes. These are the same pitch black eyes when I still have the concentrated evil power of the demon king.

"Hey Pet! Calm down, okay? I will not call her," I tenderly said to her as I cup her face.

"I don't want to see her Mason."

"I know I know. Just stay calm. Help is along the way," sagot ko sa kanya at mabilis ko siyang niyakap.

"Ano bang nangyari sa akin?"

This unexpected rage and her dark eyes are undoubtedly indications of her black magic.

"This magical forest might have unintentionally stimulated the dark magic in you as an overwhelming amount of deaths are looming in this area. However, these trees are designed to counter that. They think you are a threat."

"Shinjiro Aokigahara Prohibere Praesidium!"

Napalingon kaming dalawa nang marinig namin ang boses ni Riku Nakamura. Riku has a Japanese father and a Korean mother. He is only in his late thirties, and yet he is considered the most powerful wizard right now.

Biglang binitawan ng matandang puno ang mga kamay at binti ni Hailey. Nagmamadali naman itong yumakap sa akin dahil sa takot.

"You are right, Professor Mason Elizalde. This woodland escalated the dark magic of the Ultima Incantatrix, but some of the trees here serve as the defenders of the forest. It perceives the Ultima Incantatrix as a menacing threat. Forgive me, I was a few minutes late," sabi ni Riku sa amin.

"Mason, I am thirsty," bulong ni Hailey sa akin na hindi pa rin bumibitaw sa pagkakayakap sa akin.

"Malapit na tayo sa school. You can take a quick bath and---"

I quickly stopped midway when Hailey kissed my neck. It is not a gentle kiss as I can even feel her tongue on my skin. She is like kissing me and tasting me at the same time. I was dumbfounded when I felt her lips on my jaws.

"Mason, I think I need something to drink," she whispered again.

My eyes widened as she began to lick the blood on my wound. She is sipping at my blood like a blood-thirst vampire. In the corner of my eyes, I saw that the Arcane Lord waved his hand and Hailey instantly lost her consciousness.

"Blood thirst is one of the manifestations of black magic. We need to bring her to the CDC," sabi sa akin ni Riku.

CDC or Chateau De Chalgrin is the name of the three level castle of the Shinjiro Nakamura School of Magic.

If CRAM has the Aquamarine Castle, this school has the CDC.

Lumapit sa akin ang Arcane Lord at hinawakan ang balikat ko. Sa loob ng maikling sandali ay naramdaman ko ang paggaling ng sugat ko sa pisngi at sa braso.

This wizard also masters Healing Magic.

"Let us go back to CDC. We need a more effective potion for her. No offense to your Potion Creation Professor, but this kind of magic is something that he has never seen before."

Tumango lang ako sa kanya at binuhat ang walang malay na si Hailey. With Hailey's life on the line, I would be more than happy to be the Arcane Lord's ally just to save her.
