CHAPTER 41 - LORD

I WAS in the middle of my Dark Magic class in Aquamarine Dungeon with the third year students when I received an emergency broadcast sent to all CRAM Professors.

The first message is about the new murder that happened in the wizard school in Wyoming, US. The second message is an announcement that the Arcane Lord Riku Nakamura will visit the CRAM school.

Wala pang isang minuto ay pumasok na sa loob ng Aquamarine Dungeon si Provost Hagel kasama ang Arcane Lord na si Riku Nakamura. Nakita ko na ito noon sa isang pagtitipon dito sa CRAM, pero ngayon ko lang ito makakaharap ng malapitan.

Provost Hagel made an announcement that our classes will be cut short as we will be using the Aquamarine Dungeon to test a breakthrough magical ability.

It does not take an expert to know why the Arcane Lord is exactly here. Even Thade looked at me with his worried eyes. He already has an idea what is the real motive of the Arcane Lord.

"This is Professor Mason Elizalde, our Dark Magic professor. He has an exceptional Magic Nullification ability. He can easily perform Dark Arts without worrying about its side effects," pakilala ni Provost Hagel nang makalabas na ang mga estudyante.

"Pleasure to meet you, Arcane Lord."

"I have heard a lot of things about you, Mr. Elizalde. Provost Yulia Kushnir thinks highly of you. She even wants to invite you to our school for Dark Magic training, but I am not here for that. I am here for the Ultima Incantatrix."

Tumango lang sa akin si Provost Hagel na parang sinasabi sa akin na alam ng Arcane Lord ang tungkol kay Hailey Shade.

"Why don't you invite the Ultima Incantatrix here? I want to meet her," utos ng Arcane Lord.

Hindi ko alam kung nasaan si Hailey, pero ang huli ko na alam ay magkasama sila ni Kent dahil sa new potion na dine-develop nito.

I sent her a message starting with the name Ms. Diaz instead of my usual endearment "Hey Pet". I almost smiled when I saw her message calling me Professor Elizalde. Hindi ako tinatawag ni Hailey Shade ng Professor Elizalde, unless naiinis siya sa akin.

"I think she is not feeling well. She has been studying nonstop for the past few days. We should let her rest," sabi ko at ipinakita ng chat conversation namin sa Flippies ko.

"I agree. We should let her rest in Nullus Magus Cubus immediately."

Nullus Magus Cubus. This is the glass cube where we first put Hailey. In this cube, any witches or wizard will be stripped off with magic. But this cube is capable of either killing her or making her explode right away.

"She is not a threat, Arcane Lord. She is just a kid."

"Not yet a threat, Professor Elizalde. But she will soon destroy our world. The magical world and the Ords world. Even Celina Renard saw this in her visions."

"She is taking powerful potions to slow down the effect of Dark Magic. I can assure you, she is not a danger to any students right now or even to herself."

"I will decide on that, Professor Elizalde."

The Arcane Lord waved his hand and created a portal in front of us. There are only a handful of wizards who can do Space Time Magic such as this. Nakahinga lang ako ng maluwag nang makita ko na walang tao sa loob ng dormitory room ni Hailey.

My best guess is that she is still in the laboratory room.

"According to legends, the Ultima Incantatrix is known for its immense Dark Magic because of the combined power of a demon warlock and a descendant of Gresilda. As far as I know, Gresilda no longer has any progeny," sabi ng Arcane Lord habang nakatingin sa amin ni Provost Hagel.

"Professor Elizalde, in your student's case, she was not corrupted by the Dark Magic due to her ability to nullify any magic. It is like she has a mystical shield that keeps her Dark Magic at bay. A powerful protection that will keep us from determining her current location. I wonder how you were able to initially locate her. Would you like to enlighten?"

The Arcane Lord is right. We have no idea about the location of the Ultima Incantatrix. We only found out about her because of Professor Umbra Blair, Hailey's biological mother.

Pero hindi na kailangan malaman ng Arcane Lord kung sino ang totoong nanay ni Hailey Shade

"It was me, Arcane Lord. I felt the surge of her Dark Magic when she turned 18. I raised it to some of my colleagues here and they think we are dealing with the Ultima Incantatrix," palusot kong sagot sa kanya.

The Arcane Lord may be the most powerful wizard, but I cannot fully trust him. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang gusto niya gawin kay Hailey. Hindi ko din puwede sabihin sa kanya na nandito ang ina ng Ultima Incantatrix kaya ko nalaman ang lahat tungkol sa kanya.

"Do you think you should have raised this matter to me, Provost Hagel?"

"Just like what Professor Elizalde had said, she is just a kid. We have it under control, Arcane Lord."

"Not anymore, Provost Hagel. I will be taking in charge of the Ultima Incantatrix from now on," the Arcane Lord said with finality.

Just like my father and my brother, I am always level-headed and analytical when dealing with serious matters. But when it comes to Hailey, it seems like my confidence suddenly shattered.

I felt an unforeseen rush of uncertainty on how I will be able to protect her from the greatest living wizard in front of me.
