It's not the break up that hurts the most, it's the post trauma that follows it. It is waking up and checking your phone for the message that isn't there anymore. It's like starting your life over and you have no idea where to begin.
Game over na. We're over. That's it.
Eventually, I realized my worth. That I didn't need him to make myself complete. That I could be happy without him. That happiness is a choice, not a result. That nothing will make me happy until I choose to be happy. That no person will make you happy unless you decide to be happy. I realized that happiness will not come to you. It can only come from you.
And if you were happy before you met someone, you can be happy after they're gone.
"Mr. Garcillano, I hope you don't mind but I think you're mistaken. The governor is here." I went back to my senses when I heard the female secretary talking to me.
My fingers were unconsciously and frantically tapping the top of the counter and it stopped when I felt a sudden movement beside me. It was Blade who took one step closer to where I was.
"He's here? Then that's good! I'll wait for him." masigla kong tugon, ang hindi ko lang maintindihan ay kung bakit parang may problema siyang hindi ko nalalaman. Her mouth fell open as she looks at me and at the man beside me back and forth.
"B-But the gov—"
"Nessa, it's okay." Blade cut her statement off. He even licked it before his mouth opened to speak again. "If he's eager to meet the governor, tell him to come back the other day." he continued, ang babae ang kausap ngunit sa akin nakatuon ang mga mata.
Anong sinasabi nito?
"Why would I come back? The governor is here so I don't understand what you're talking about." matapang kong pahayag sa kanya. I don't care about our history anymore, I just wanted to get my business done here as soon as possible.
"Nessa, tell him that the governor is leaving." iyon ang huli niyang sinabi bago ako tinalikuran at naglakad palayo.
The governor is leaving? What the hell?!
I looked back at the secretary to confirm if it was true.
If I can't get help from the governor, then I'll just come back tomorrow to get Diego's signatures for my business permit.
And if this secretary was doing her job right, she could have told me earlier that the governor is not here.
