Chapter 55 [Boundaries]

Sometimes we let go of people without even noticing. You stop thinking of them everyday. You stop waiting for them to reply to you. You stop allowing them to take up so much space in your life. You move on, you go about your day without worrying about them. You stop expecting them to come back with an apology. You accept that they are no longer a part of your life. You just let them go, as simple as that.

We're allowed to get up one day and just decide to change who we are. Dress differently, speak up more, laugh louder, speak freely, say hey to new people, get that confidence going. We don't have to stay the way people see us out of the fear that they won't like the us we want to be.

We deserve so much more than what we've been given. And we owe it to ourselves to give ourselves the love we have misplaced in others.

"Kalma lang, baka atakihin ka.." pabirong bulong ni Kuya Evan sa aking tainga habang titig na titig ako sa mga bagong dating. Inalis ko ang paningin doon at saka binigwasan si kuya sa kanyang tiyan.

"Shut up." I hissed at him and regained the composure I have since the day started.

Governor Blade Collins Torralba is clad in a long sleeved dark green button down tucked in an ivory white chino pants while his sleeves were rolled up to his forearms, and a pair of white sneakers. The first three buttons of his shirt were open so I got to see the chains of the necklace on his chest. I have always seen him in formal so it was a breath of fresh air to see him in a casual attire.

But to be more understanding about the situation, Blade being the governor, has reasons enough to be present in this occasion. I mean, he's not invited though he's the freaking governor so it's going to be so rude to kick him out. But what I don't understand is why Ate Catalina has to be present as well. May hindi ba ako nalalaman tungkol sa kanilang dalawa? Nagkabalikan ba sila? What's their status and why are they together?

"Did you invite him?" mariing tanong sa akin ni Kuya Atom kaya tiningala ko siya. I raised an eyebrow at him to give him the obvious answer he needs.

He sighed and then looked back at them, rather looked back at his ex-fiancee. Ate Catalina wears a floral wrap around dress that looks good on her. But why did he show up here? Is it hard to understand that I don't need his presence and we both didn't want to see each other's faces anymore?

"Ang tagal namang magsimula, nagugutom na ako." nanatili ako sa tabi ni Kuya Evan kahit naririndi na ako sa paulit-ulit niyang hinaing. Nawala si Kuya Atom pansamantala dahil may kumausap sa kanyang kakilala kanina.

"Bakit kasi hindi ka kumain bago ka nagpunta rito?" tanong ko, ibinaling sa kanya ang aking pansin upang may pagkaabalahan ako.

I am calm. I have to embrace the dominant version of myself again during trying times like this. Bitch mode activated.
