Main Verse: 1 Samuel Chapter 1 to Chapter 2
Dwelling verse: 1 Samuel 8:6-7
But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us," And Samuel prayed to the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, "Obey the voice of the peopke in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them."Israelites in their time were naturallt hardheaded that God needed to give them judges from generation to generation just to redeem them over and over again from their repeated sins.
In the time of Samuel, they still didn't understand and know God. They still didn't really understand the message of God for them.
Remember this: If you don't really know the LORDSHIP of God and you didn't really know Him well, you will just always get back into your sins.
Note!
Being a sinner is different from a person who continually walks in sin.We all make and will still make sins and mistakes because we are all sinners. Even though we already accepted Jesus in our lives, it doesn't mean that we became perfect or holy. Accepting Jesus in our lives will make us walk in his righteousness day by day and will have fear to do sin in our lives. Because of the grace of the Lord, we can confidently come to Him to ask for forgiveness and be forgiven.
But a person who still continue to live his life to sin and refuse to come to God to be forgiven has his path in danger.
Samuel as their leader did everything that he was appointed to do for the Israelites just for them to know and understand God's will.
In chapter 7 verse 3, Samuel encouraged and instructed the Isrelites to put away their gods. They did obey, but never really inderstand. Because if they understood that onlt God has the right to reign and He alone is the King, they wouldn't need any other king for them.
Lessons in this passage:
1. God is the Only King, no one/nothing else.2. Don't put away your idols just because your leader to you so. (Please understand this. If you still get this, you can ask me.)
3. You reject God by not allowing Him to be the King of your heart and life day by day.
Dear God,
Thank You for your Word. Thank You for Your revelation. Forgive us in our sins and shortcomings. Forgive us whenever we fail to make you the king of our lives and for seeking other kings to reign us instead of you. Rebuke and help us in our repentance.
I pray for the soul, reading this very words today, kindly help him/her to understand your Lordship. Kindly help him/her know you more than being a God, a Lord, but a loving Father and merciful Savior. May this soul have a heart that is always open for your kingship, that he/she may be able to walk in your will and righteoussness. In Jesus' Name. Amen.Shalom!
Glory be all to God! :)
