As a Christian, it is a great challenge to display the reality of God through our lives most especially in front of unbelievers. Although it is God's Words that matters at all but other people's opinion also matters when it comes to winning their souls for the Lord.

We could learn a lesson from this scenario where Moses was instructed by the Lord in Exodus 4:1-5:

Then Moses answered, "But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, 'The Lord did not appear to you.'" The Lord said to him, "What is that in your hand?" He said, "A staff." And he said, "Throw it on the ground." So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it.

But the Lord said to Moses, "Put out your hand and catch it by the tail"—so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand— "that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you."

What did God saw in this situation?
Like Moses, Why are you so afraid that people cannot truly believe that the Lord is in you?

1. You are holding something that's not from God. (verse 2-3)

We are told that in order to fully follow the Lord, we must let go of everything behind. We must follow the Lord without any reservations. God sees your spiritual hand and the condition of your heart. What are you still holding on? Guilt? Hatred? Anger? Worldly treasures?

Like Moses, God wants you to let go of it! Throw it! Because you are not aware that it is a serpent to your faith! And like Moses, God wants to see you throwing it down and running away from it.

Following Christ means losing something that doesn't help you grow in Him.

"But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything ad loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.." -Philippians 3:7-8

Throw off serpents in your life and grab the Will of God in your life!

2. (However) God can use that serpent you hold as your testimony.

Remember, God uses whatever is at hand, but give it up first to Him. What have been throwed off can be hold again for a weapon. As a Christian, if we don't have testimony, we are nothing ('pag wala kang kwento, wala kang kwenta). God can make your mess into message. This will be your powerful tool to proclaim that the Lord can change broken lives and freed the slaves.

Dear Lord,
Whoever is reading this chapter today, I pray that their eyes may be opened for them to see the things that hinders their growth. I pray that their eyes may be open for them to see the things that they need to let go. I pray Lord that the moment they realized what it is, give them courage to throw it off, without any hesitations and be able to follow what you told them to do.

May Your Glory, Lord, be seen in their lives by the lost and they could be saved the way your save the Israelites from Egypt. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Shalom!
Glory be all to God! :)
