Do you still remember the day when God first called you?
It's always good to take a moment of reminisce about the moment when God first called our names because sometimes, we are too preoccupied by things we do for Him and forgot the reason of our service without even knowing it.Read: Luke 5:1-11
√ Be Pressed on hearing the Word of God before any thing else.
"On one occassion while the crowd was pressing in on Him to hear the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Genesareth." (verse 1)This scenarion happened early in the morning. This inlt shows the inportance of hearing God's word in the morning. The people was so hungry to hear what Jesus has to say that they needed to press in on Him.
Press in means to force something in so space of crevice. This doesn't mean that they are forcing Jesus to teach them but this shows their uncontainable hunger for the Word of God. They really wanted His Word so bad.
Question: How are you pressing in to hear the Word of God first thing in the morning?
Joshua 1:8 This Book of Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it...
You hear God's Word not just in church during service, but you can hear His Words everyday in your daily devotion with Him. You can hear Him by opening and reading in your Bible.
√ Be faithful in little things.
"..He saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets, getting into on of the boats, which was Simons, He asked Him to put out a little from the land. And He asked Him to put out a little from the land. And He asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the people from the boat. (verse 2-3)Jesus isn't after big things. He isn't finding big things in you. He just wants what you have and your willingness for it to be used by Him for His works. Simon only had a boat in that place and He let Jesus use it when He teach to people.
God will bless and make big thing out of the small thing that you give unto Him to be used in His works. But not in a way that you are thinking.
Jesus didn't made the boat into a ship. But He made an awesome things that you never imagine when He is in your boat. His miracle of blessing is beyond your comprehension! The ocean was too wide and misterious for Him to just make a ship out of a boat. He will still choose to remain it a boat for you to stay humble but He will show you great and hidden things under the ocean that you never known!
√ Be obedient even if it doesn't make sense to you.
And when he had finished speaking he said to Simon, "Put out into thw deep and let down your nets for a catch." And when Simon answered, "Master we toiled all night and took nothing! But a your word I will let down the nets." (verse 4-5)Peter keep himseld from thinking that since he heave fished a few waters that somehow we knew better than Jesus the course his life should take and place his nets should be dropped.
Here, Peter called Jesus "Master" and He mean it!
Luke 6:46-49 Why do you call me Lord, Lord, yet don't do what I say? Everyibe who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show yoy what he is like.
Fiahing is Peter's profession. Every fiaherman knows that if you're going to catch fish it's going to be at night when thet rise from the depths to feed on the surface. And every fisherman knows that when the sun comes up, it drives them down below the reach of the nets.
What does Jesus know about fishing when in fact, He is a carpenter? But since Peter understands that Jesus is the Messiah in which hisbbrother Andrew introduced to Him (John 1:41) he excluded his knowledge about his profession and trust and obey the One who knows everything.
Obey sinply and solely, "because you say so."
√ See Jesus in your side-the One who labors.
And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. They signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. (verse 6)When Jesus calls you to do something, be quick in youe boat, shift to your oars and fast with your nets. But let your eyes see that it is not you who made it all, but Jesus. Without Him, you will not be able to achieve anything just like Peter.
√ Keep yourself ever in your knees before Jesus
But when Simon Peter saw it, He feel down at Jesus' knees saying "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord."Be aware of the Lord always, who is ever aware that you are sinful one and in thay knowledge keep yourself ever on your knees before Him.
√ Be willing to trade temporary for eternity.
And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.What Jesus has to offer is infinitely more than all the seas of this world could.
It'll never be hard to leave your everything when younknow that Jesus is everything!
Shalom!
Glory be all to God! :)
