Many people say that chance is should only be given to a person who deserves it. Proof that someone really changed will be the basis for giving them a chance.
But think of it, if we will adapt this thought for giving someone a chance who maybe hurt us, disappointed us, fooled us... Then none of us are deserving for it. Why? Because everyone of us are capable of hurting other people. We are all capable of disappointing of fellow. We can all fool someone for our own purpose. Intentionally or unintentionally.
The idea of chance is too beautiful to based it on human conception. We should based it on the truth through the Word of God in which we could see God's thoughts about this.
Job 33:29-30 God gives each of us chance after chance to be saved from death and brought into the light that gives life.
God will always give you something you don't even deserve for you to realize that you didn't get it on your own. God only gives it to you all by His grace.
Fact: You are chosen and forgiven by Christ but you still and will still make mistakes.
I tried to check my life and I found no trace that I could make a basis to say that I am deserving. I am not deserving for anything. I remember some lyrics of my favorite song that goes like this...
"You don't owe me anything,
Still You give me everything...
God I owe You everything,
I want You more than anything.."That is how God loves us so much, the love that is unconditional. Even though He knew that we could ignore Him even after being hanged on that cross, still His love for us never changes.
All of us sins, and will still sin, and all fall short of His glory —we don't deserve anything from Him but He still gives us chance after chance. Not just once, not just twice but countless of times!
Mark 2:17 said, "And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."
Jesus didn't came because you are already righteous. Jesus didn't came because you already repented in your sins. Jesus came when you are still a sinner.
Jesus came for you, to make Himself known to you, to die for you, to rise from the dead for you, and to be with you always and to give you eternal life!
1 Timothy 1:15 stated, "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost."
God knows that tomorrow we will commit sin, intentionally or unintentionally.
God knows that in another day, we will fail to obey His commandments, aware or unaware.
God knows that there will be time to come that our faith to Him will waver.
But He will never fail to give us chance to change for His glory.
God's patience and understanding are immeasurable! Every breath we have for every seconds is a chance. Don't waste it!
God is giving you chance to your:
I. Time for Him
How did you value our time for Him? How did you give your time to Him? Is is only a portion of your day? Is God still your priority? Remember that He is The Highness, King of kings, and the Lord of lords —give Him what He deserve not just because you are afraid of Him, but because you love Him.
II. Attitude
How's your attitude in every circumstances you encounter? Those circumstances are testings to shape who God wants to be you, the bring you back in your original design which is the image and likeness of God. Are you changing into someone who God wants you to be? Or you lose the process and continue getting worst?
III. Heart
How is your heart towards God? Do you still love God above all? Are the things you are doing today is still for His glory of God and out of your love for Him or you just do it just for the sake of responsibility and familiarity?
Don't waste every chance God is giving you because that is for your own good. He doesn't want you to fall in eternal death. He loves you so much that He chooses to forgive you over and over again. Repent today and live in the light and love of Jesus Christ!
God said in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Help me to live in your righteousness everyday. Help me be a manifestation of your love and mercy to other people.
