MOMENT 30: Knowing the Lord

Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.

What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes early away.
Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth, and my judgment goes forth as the light.

For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. -Hosea 6:3-6

The main goal of doing your devotion and hearing the Word of God is to know Him more and become more like Him. Because the more you know your Lord, the more you become like your Lord and the more you will live like Jesus.

The Word of God helps us to go back to our original design.

In knowing who God is, the desire must be there in you. You must press on to it!

Press on means to endure or to force tourself toward a certain goal. And the goal is Jesus—your reward. The Author and Perfector of our faith.

As you press on seeking and knowing God, He woill not leave you frustrated but he will come like a rising sun—giving you a new hope and new strength and He will fall like a shower of rains upon you, giving you new life and refreshed Spirit!

But everyone experiences failures and feels too tired and drowsy...Even their love fades away... And, in order for us to go back to Jesus He needed to:

I. Hewn us by the Prophets.
Hewn -to shape something by cutting with a sharp tool.

Our spiritual leaders are the prophets talking in here. Let's put this in a scenarion. God is the owner of the garden, your leader is the gardener or care taker and you are the plant. God has trusted your leader to look for you and take good care for you.

The gardener when sees something like thorns or outgrown branches or leaves in the plant, he will cut it off and will shape the plant to make it more look good. The way that the gardener cuts off things that make the plant ugly is the representation of rebuke.

When your leader rebukes you about something bad in you, he is cutting off that bad thing. That is his duty to God that entrusted them of you.

II. Slain us by the Word of God.
Slay/Slain -to kill especially in a battle or war

God's Words is not just for blessing in the future or encouragement, it is also for correction. God's Words is also meant to kills our earthly passions which are abominable in the sight of God.

III. Judgment.

Every sin and disobedience has a corresponding consequences. But God never intends to judge you. It is just your sin that puts judgment on you.

This is must be our heart in knowing God:
☑️ Desire steadfast love not sacrifice
Your sacrifice must be out of love and not out of religious duty. God is pleased with our steeadfast love for Him than.

☑️ Knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings
We are not obeying God's commandments because someone just tells us to. We are obeying God's laws, praising and pleasing His Name because we know Him and we love Him. We must have knowledge of who God is through His Words.
