Have you ever committed a certain sin and makes you feel like this?:
"I feel being condemned."
"I feel neglected and abandoned."
"I feel that I don't have any more hope to hold on"
"I feel ashamed."It is not God that condemns you. It is your sin and the maker of sin that condemn you! Remember that the Spirit is always against the flesh? And the flesh is always against the Spirit? When you do something against your Spirit, since you are now walking in it, you will begin to feel unease. Because the Spirit doesn't like the sin.
When you have sin, remember that God is OMNISCIENT. From the term "Omni" means all, and "scient" means all knowledge. God is a God of all knowledge. God is All-Knowing God. He knows everything, even the things beyond the milky way galaxy. Since God knows everything, it is our confidence to come to Him with humble heart and all honesty.
The knowledge of God is not to condemned you but to cleanse you and save you from your sins.
And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison.
I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny. -Luke 12:57-59What does God mean in "Why do you not judge for ourselves what is right?" You already know what is right yet you keep on doing what is wrong. Judge it with yourself:
Is it pleasing to God?
Is it glorifying to God?
Is it righteous?
Is it against the Law of God?
Is it for building? You cannot blame God when He rebukes you. He warned you in the first place! The voice from within, the passage you read in the Bible, the preaching you heard ---He has warnings included in those things. That's why we should always be sensitive of His voice.
In this passage, God is the accuser.
Yes, God is a loving Father. God is merciful. But we cannot take the wrath of God towards sin! He is Holy. He is the God of righteousness. Remember, God is not angry with you, God is angry with your sin! When you have sinned, God is inviting you to come to Him. Settle with your accuser!
How to settle your fault with your accuser?
Make an E.F.F.O.R.T.E - End your sins (Repent!)
There are two types of repentance:
1. Godly Repentance
2. Wordly RepentanceGodly repentance is knowing that you have offended God and you want to change your way so that you will not do it again. It's not just wanting ti change but doing something to change. While worldly repentance is just being sorry because of the fear of punishment for what you did. It is just crying without the will to changing.
2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.
When you repent, it means turning your back from the sin! You will not do it again. This will lead you to salvation because when you turn your back to sin, you will now facing the path to the righteousness of God and will walk in it until you reached your destination which is the eternal life with the Lord.
F - Fall at His feet (Admit that you have sinned and humble yourself before God)
It is hard to humble ourselves when we are not admitting with ourselves that we are wrong. We have to first realize that we are wrong. That we have done wrong. And the moment we begin to see that we have sinned, we will see the Holyness of God and be able to humble down before Him.
When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, "Oh, Lord, please leave me-I'm such a sinful man." -Luke 5:8
F - Face the consequences
Repenting is not a means of escaping from the consequences of the sins you have done. God is just. And what He said in the Bible will happen, no one could change it.
Ezekiel 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord GOD. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.
O - Open your heart to God (Don't harden it)
Whenever you hear the conviction of the Holy Spirit that you should not do it, listen. Obey. Or if ever you have already commited sin, He will still whisper His conviction for you to repent, listen. Obey.
Hebrews 3:15 As it is said, Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.
R - Return to God with all your heart
Isaiah 44:22 I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.
T - Think that life is all about Jesus alone
Surrendering is acknowledging that you need God in your life. Surrendering id admitting that you are nothing without Him, that you cannot change your life without Him. Surrendering to God is declaring that He had the full control of your life. Your life comes from Him and your life is for Him alone. If you do not surrender it to Him, the world with rule over you. Remember: Pag di ka sumunod kay Kristo, pasusunurin ka ng mundo (If you don't follow Christ, the world will make you follow the world). Let's live a life ouf surrender. It is not a one-time doing it but a daily decision.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. -Matthew 16:24-25
When you have sinned, come to God, the judge, the rightful accuser and also a merciful settler. He is faithful and gracious. Make an E.F.F.O.R.T. to not doing the same sin over and over again.
Shalom!
Glory to God alone! :)
