How are you today?

I feel within me that I needed to ask that question before we proceed.

I will give you words or clauses first and I want you to rate it from 1-10 based on pain level-1 as for not so painful to 10 as for very painful. So I need your cooperation haha! So you can leave your answers as comments inline. Anyway this is just an icebreaker

What if someone will say to you:

1. UGLY (PANGIT)
Then, that someone is not that good looking as well? How do you rate this word? PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

2. FAT (MATABA)
Did you know that No to body shaming is trending in social media nowadays? If you are curvy in shaped then this word above was used to you as an insult, how do you rate it? PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

3. SKINNY (PAYAT, in pangasinan: KARAT)
So if number 2 is used for our sisters/brothers who are blessed with fleshy part, this word in number three is for those for who are not too blessed with fleshy part (like me) and used as an insult to you, how do you rate it? PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

4. SNUB-NOSE (PANGO)
This is a common joke to Filipinos by our fellow Filipinos (well, that's how our country works haha!) but sometimes used just to bully someone (like me, as well). How do you rate this word? PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

5. MORON (WALANG ALAM)
Say for instance, your parents never told you this word.. or, you maybe are a consistent honor student then someone would say to you that you are moron?! How do you rate that? PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

6. YOU DID NOTHING RIGHT (WALA KA NANG GINAWANG TAMA)
I often hear this words in teleseryes or movies, especially on scenes with family or couples. What if this words will be used against you but you just made a mistake for ones? How painful it is? PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

7. YOU'LL NEVER SUCCEED (HANGGANG D'YAN KA NA LANG)
You are striving so hard to study or make effort in your job, yet someone has already given you a period in your life by saying this words. How do you rate its pain level? WHAT NUMBER?

8. YOU DIDN'T PASS. (DI KA PUMASA)
For those who have exams and review so hard. For those who court someone and gave their best efforts. To those who cook and are completed with ingredients and spices. Then you will hear this comment about you that you didn't pass? How painful it is? PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

9. THERE'S NO MORE RICE. (UBOS NA ANG KANIN)
Did you know the feeling of someone who cook rice, main dish and even made the plates, spoons, fork and glass ready on the table? But when you are about to get your food, your family member or friend or boardmate will tell you that there's no more rice left for you? (Oh my gash, rice is life for Filipinos hahaha!) HOW PAINFUL IT IS? NUMBER?

10. I DON'T LIKE YOU/I DON'T LOVE YOU. (HINDI KITA GUSTO/HINDI KITA MAHAL)
You are the one who's been always for that person's side. You always helo that person in whatever problem he/she had. You are always in the rescue! Yet, you will hear him/her say to you that he/she don't like you. He/she don't love you. As Moira said in her song Paubaya, "Ako ang kailangan, pero di ang mahal." (CRIEEESS!!) How painful is this?! PAIN LEVEL NUMBER?

You know what, those words presented abive are offesive or are words expressing rejections. And most of the times, are used to crack a joke.

But admit it or not, when you know in your heart that there are times that those words shouldn't be used against us, even if it just meant for a joke-it is still painful. Not because you are sensitive.

This is not about sensitivity, but this is about the weight of words used. Another, the words of rejection are painful for us because it is not the word that we expect to hear or to know.
