??? pov
I awoke to the sounds of swimming fish, and crashing waves. It was a good wake up call, so I wasn't upset. I stretched out my arms above my head then and let my tail stretch out as well. It felt nice and I relaxed after a few minutes. I didn't want to get a tail cramp, those hurt real bad..
"Gon! Breakfast is ready come eat!"
Oh that was my aunt Mito! I didn't want to make her wait for me, so I got up and prepared for the day. I didn't have to do much really. All I did was swish my tail around to warm up my swimming, then had my hair stick straight up. It was difficult since I was in the water, but it managed a little bit. My round eyes looked into the broken shard of a mirror I had found, and I shrugged.
"Another day." I told myself before setting down the mirror shard onto my nightstand. My nightstand wasn't anything special, it was just a rock carved into a circle.
"Coming Aunt Mito!" I announced while swimming out of my room.
My name is Gon Freecss, I'm a fifteen year old mer-boy who is curious and upbeat. Many question how I stay up high all day, and it's just my way of keeping my brain away from bad things. After all I didn't want to worry about too much and over think. Over thinking was not the way to go.
When I arrived in the main area of our home, I saw my aunt Mito had prepared some clams for us and I clicked happily.
Me and all the other mer-people don't speak like humans do. Humans speak with their voice boxes and say words. But meanwhile we speak through clicks. It's much like how a dolphin communicates.
"Have a seat Gon I would like to speak with you." My aunt said and I agreed.
I quickly made my way to sit onto a stone that was placed by a slab of coral that we used as a table. I respectfully started eating my clam after me and my aunt said our grace. It was tradition for us to do so. We loved to be thankful for what we had, it helped us remember that there are a lot out there who don't have what we do.
"Ok, so this morning I heard from a neighbor of ours that some fisherman were spotted above the reef a few hours ago. I know you like venturing out and all, but please stay in the reef for today. I would hate for you to get caught." Mito said with worry and I shrugged.
"Alright I'll stay in the reef, but what if they aren't dangerous? Maybe I could be friends with them!" I clicked happily.
"No Gon, you are staying in the reef today. Humans cannot be trusted! Remember old man Huj? He had more than five fishing hooks stuck in his tail. And if he tried to take them out he would bleed to death most likely.. so don't underestimate what humans can do. They are dangerous Gon." My aunt said with a angry click.
I frowned at what she said and just continued eating. Us Mer-people are known not to trust humans whatsoever. That's why we've never really been seen by them. We stay away and just stay below the surface to keep from getting noticed. It's what we've always done. But I wanted to prove that humans weren't dangerous. Also I wanted to find out if humans had anything to do with the disappearance of my father, Ging.
My father left me when I was just a baby with my Aunt Mito, for who knows what... but I want to find him. I see so many other mermaid children learning from their fathers on how to hunt and so much more. It just made me sad that he's not here.. I bet he's so cool!
"Gon listen to me.. I'm sorry I'm being so harsh, but I'm serious. Please don't get yourself into trouble today." My aunt said while watching me swim up a little and rid of my clam shells.
"Don't worry Aunt Mito I'll be fine. I won't go out too far!" I reassured her with my big happy grin.
She smiled too and hugged me close.
