Gon pov

Today I had a day off from training! But I still didn't just want to sit and do nothing! I had to work towards my goal. Bisky said I needed to meditate and exercise everyday for hours on end. Which I'll gladly do!

Killua and I decided yesterday after my training that today we could meet at the docks and just hang out. So I was swimming over there now. But in the back of my mind, I still had a dark feeling. Ever since Kurapika brought up what he saw, I haven't been able to think or feel the same. It's terrifying to think there's a mermaid hybrid swimming around and eating it's own kind.. what would ever make it think that way...

While heading towards the beach, I suddenly sensed someone else in the area. I smelled a scent I've never smelled here before... w-what was here? I was currently swimming over the drop off, that dropped down miles deep. You couldn't even see the bottom..

Out of the darkness below, suddenly came a mermaid. I was going to say hi, but what I saw made me tense up. It had the cat ears and every other visual description that kurapika told us.. oh crap!

It seemed to sense my presence as well and locked eyes with me. We were a good twenty feet away from each other. The creatures eyes then widened and a evil smirk came upon its face. I had to get out of here!

Without a second thought, I zoomed off towards who knows where. I will not just go leading this thing to the docks. I don't want it getting Killua..

Behind me, I heard it scream and swim after me. But I was still ahead of it by a good distance. So I had time to find a hiding place. It took a second, but I saw a small hole in some coral that would hide me perfectly. I then scrambled into the hole and hid. My body shook terribly and tears went down my face.

The presence this creature had.. it wasn't normal.. I could sense it had so much power. It was dark.

The mermaid creature suddenly swam up into the area where I had gone. And it looked around. I had to hold my breathe to keep it from hearing me breathe. It seemed to have lost track of me, but I still saw the killer instinct in its eyes.

"You may have gotten away this time.. but I'll find you and you will bring power to me.." it growled before swimming away with abnormal speed.

I waited until it disappeared into the distance and went out of my hiding spot. Oh god.. I had to warn Killua and the others!! Especially Kurapika! I wouldn't want him getting caught on his own out here by that thing. I could tell it would defeat him pretty easily.. it's sad to say but it's true, the power it has is something far from the rest of us.

Now I was going back towards the beach. I arrived after ten minutes of breathing quickly and questioning my safety. Also I made sure to continuously check my back. I just didn't want to feel the look of those terrifying eyes ever again.. they were so wide, so dark, so... evil.

When I got to the beach, I saw Killua pacing along the shore. Oh no.. I was pretty late, hopefully I didn't worry him too much. I surfaced though when I got closer and he gasped.

"Gon oh god I thought you got caught again!! Why are you late?! Did something get you?!" Killua cried out and kneeled down frantically to make sure I was alright.

After he examined my tail and torso to make sure I wasn't hurt, his eyes traveled to my face. Killua soon noticed the horror, and unforgettable dread in my expression. Out of no where, I cried. Tears flooded my face like a tsunami while I tried to sniff them back.

Killua frowned at my current state and he sat down in the wet sand. He then pulled me into his lap and hugged me close. I felt safe in his grasp and cuddled close to his larger form.

"Gon what happened??" He asked with much more concern now.

He rubbed my back now to help calm me and gave me little kisses on my head to reassure me. It actually helped a lot and I felt a little better.

"Y-you know that thing Kurapika saw a while ago?" I asked him.

I could hear his heart starting to beat faster, and his arms tightened around me.

"Y-ya?? What about it?" Killua responded with his voice sinking into more concern.

I gulped and started to cry again at the thought of what happened. It was so scary.. it was worse than those fisher men from before! Ya the thing didn't actually catch me, but just it's presence made me regret ever breathing.

"I-I was on m-my way to the beach earlier. I was h-heading over the drop off area and out of the darker waters came... the thing that Kurapika saw. We made e-eye contact and it began to chase me... I got ahead of it enough to find a hiding spot. But it was so scary and I knew it just wanted to kill me!!" I sobbed out in fear.

Killua gasped and he looked just as horrified as I was.

"Oh god... Gon this isn't good!! What if that thing actually caught you?! It's not safe for you here anymore! I have to contact Leorio immediately so we can find you a safer place to stay!" Killua yelled in terror before standing up and taking out his phone.

I then hugged his ankle from where I now lay on the ground and he looked down with confusion.

"K-Killuba.. what about my Aunt Mito?" I said sadly.

I couldn't just leave my aunt behind to fend for herself.. she needed to have a place too..

Killua was just finishing texting Leorio and he frowned down to me. He seemed to have no idea how we would even get her to trust them but..

"I asked Leorio about that too, and I'm thinking you and your Aunt would stay at Ging's place. He has a big pool at his house that he can filter salt water in. I'm not sure how he jumbled up the money to get it, but he has it and that's what matters.." Killua said.

My friend went to taking his shirt off now so he could get in the water with me. Once he got in I stayed close to him out of fear and Killua pet my hair gently.

"Hey it's ok don't worry.. I'm here for you little bud you got that? I would never let that thing get its hands on you, I swear." Killua told me sincerely.

I smiled to him and nuzzled his nose with my own. Killua blushed in response, but he continued to grin and he kept reassuring me.

Eventually, we both started to swim around together as per usual. It was fun! And it helped me get my mind off of what happened...

Now, I was doing some of my exercise that Bisky instructed me to do. And Killua watched happily upon the docks. He rested his elbow onto his knee while looking at me train. He also had his cheek resting in the palm of his hand.

I did things from push-ups, to swimming exercises, to many other things. I just had to get my momentum going. Along with that I did some meditation under water. My eyes were closed, and I had my tail swish in the water slowly. I had to make sure to keep my focus on the current around me.

But after a while I sensed something. I opened my eyes and turned to see Killua under water with me now and he chuckled when I got startled. He did make sure I was ok though afterwards and gave me a playful hug.

"How did meditating go?" He asked when I resurfaced.

"It went good!! I can just feel my bond with the ocean getting stronger!!!" I cheered out of joy.

Killua smiled in response and he seemed to be glad about me feeling better. I was happy about it too. I didn't want to let that creepy thing affect the rest of my day..
