Pitou pov

I felt so good, I felt so much raw power flowing inside of me. I had been hunting other mermaids all day, and regaining their magic. It felt so good, it was the best feeling in the world.

It was getting dark, but I didn't care. I'm the thing everyone should hide from at night, I'm not the one hiding. I was now in a deep trench swimming around. I was still catching normal fish too to eat. I couldn't just eat other mermaids, they are harder to catch and I'm tired right now. But I would love to see some frightened faces right now..

Suddenly from above me I saw a shadow. I growled and swam up to attack, but some unknown instincts came in. Somehow... I knew this was someone working with me.

The figure stopped and I blinked my eyes to have my night vision activate. My eyes had to adjust a little but I could see clearly after a few minutes.

In front of me swam a very beautiful looking mermaid. He had a white tail that was much like a Betta mixed with a guppy. Which he also had butterfly wings in his back along with antenna on his head. I'm not sure how those butterfly wings are surviving in the water but... at this point who knows what sort of traits are in us.

"So.. I'm guessing you are also getting some unknown instinct that we are working partners.." said the merman who revealed his decently long blonde hair.

"Yes.. you have the same objective as me don't you? Eat mermaids and gain power right?" I asked and twitched my cat ears.

He nodded and chuckled.

"Indeed, I've already caught quite a few. The power surging in me is such a new feeling, I like it.." he said with a smirk.

"Yes this power is... something new... but I have a sense that we are using this to serve someone. We are under commands.." I pointed out to him.

"Agreed, we obviously are under command by those weird scientists but- they kept mentioning someone named Meruem, that must be who we are serving." The merman mentioned and I had a moment of realization.

"Your right.. well we better get powerful enough to serve him. Because I have a feeling those scientists are brewing up something very powerful in him.." I said.

"Indeed.. anyways, what is your name that you've been assigned?" He asked and I sighed.

I leaned against the trench wall in the process. Then I looked back over to him with a grin.

"I'm Pitou, you?" I asked in return.

"I'm pouf, it's nice to meet you.. so what do we do now?" The merman named Pouf asked.

I thought about it and smiled.

"Well, we should make a sanctuary for us to stay, and a place for Meruem to thrive. It's probably the best next step alongside gaining more power from other mermaids too." I thought aloud, making Pouf nod.

"Yes that sounds like a better plan.. but how will we even make a sanctuary?" Pouf questioned.

I rubbed my chin to think about it and a light bulb went off in my head. Whatever a light bulb is.. but I had an idea.

"Well, I have been swimming around these parts for quite a while and there's a pretty big boat wreck under water here that's still in good shape. So maybe that can be our place to stay, and we can have Meruem stay there when he's out of the labs." I said and began to swim up alongside Pouf.

"That's perfect! Hopefully we can maybe tidy it up, I'd hate for it to be such a mess.." Pouf said a little dramatically.

I rolled my eyes towards what he said but decided to move on anyways. We had to get along, we are working together, we are serving together.

"Fine.. also is there any others that could be joining us?" I asked Pouf.

He grinned and nodded to clarify that in fact there is another coming.

"Yes I believe there is one more in our ranks joining us. Then there are many more that are below us that are coming as well that serve us. It's quite an interesting set up." Pouf babbled on and on from there about who knows what.

But all I could think about was... what if someone decided to get in our way? Obviously we would kill without a second thought, we have to protect Meruem and the operation. But who would even want to get in our way? No humans know of this going on, and mermaids are all hiding due to the number of victims we've killed. So I'm thinking we're in the clear for now.

Who knows... maybe we could even have a little fun killing instead of just doing it for a job...
