Gon pov
After I left the beach, the smile on my face was the biggest one I've ever had. I made new friends!! And they are humans!! Now I can prove to Aunt Mito that not all of them are bad. Although.. I should probably keep this on the down low for now. She would be very angry with me.. so I should wait.
As I swam back though I saw something swimming not that far away from me. I squinted my eyes and became even happier when I realized it was Kurapika! But.. hopefully he didn't see me talking with Killua and Leorio..
I quickly made my way over to him and hugged him when I reached him. Kurapika was surprised when I did so and his eyes widened.
"Wait wha- oh Gon it's you, what are you doing out here?" Kurapika asked with worry and I puffed out my chest proudly before showing all the fish I caught.
"I was practicing my hunting!!" I say, knowing that it was actually half the truth.
"Oh good job gon those are some good catches. We should probably get back sooner than later, we don't want your Aunt getting worried again." Kurapika said and I agreed.
"Ya let's go home, but what were you doing out here?" I asked and he sighed.
We began swimming back now rather quickly so we could make up time.
"Well I'm trying to find those hunters who killed my family.. my clan... I haven't found anything yet, all I have are the fishing hooks from the bodies.." Kurapika said and I frowned.
"Don't worry you'll find something soon I just know it!!" I reassured him.
"Thanks Gon but.. things aren't looking promising.." Kurapika said with a shrug.
I was going to argue but suddenly I saw something in the corner of my eye in the sand. It was a purple shell with blue creases.. it was so pretty!! I quickly grabbed it before going back to Kurapika's side. The shell reminded me of Killua! That's when I got the idea to give it to him tomorrow. Ya I could give him a gift! Yay!!
Kurapika seemed to notice my increasing joy and he tilted his head.
"Well someone's overly joyous today.. what's up?" He asked and I grinned.
"Oh it's nothing, just I met someone today and they are really nice!!" I say and Kurapika chuckled.
"Well whose this person that you met? Do they live in the reef?" He asked and I gulped.
"Oh uh.. no I'm not sure where they live.. they say they uh... live south or something in the bay." I say nervously trying to cover up my lies.
It seemed to work but Kurapika was a little suspicious of it.
"The bay in the south? That's forbidden isn't it.. if they lived there they'd be under a bunch of human ships..." Kurapika said and I shook a little.
"Oh uh ya well... they are strong so humans can't get them." I say quickly and Kurapika nodded.
"Well hopefully one day I can meet these new friends of yours, maybe they could have a lead on my clan." The shark man said and I felt my gills shiver.
"Y-ya hopefully." I responded before seeing the drop off in the distance already.
"Well I guess I'll see you later Gon, don't go do anything stupid you got it?" Kurapika said and I nodded.
"Ya of course um... have a good night Kurapika!" I say and he waved before swimming down into the darkness.
I then let out all of the built up air i was holding back and my gills smoothed out. Thank goodness.. that was close. I should have just kept my mouth shut.. But maybe one day Kurapika could actually meet my new human friends. But it might not end well.. like with Aunt Mito, I'll have to wait.
It took another ten minutes for me to reach the reef since I was going pretty fast as to not me late to curfew.
Once I got within the colorful rocky reef I went into my home to find Aunt Mito boiling some clams over hot charcoals. She must have noticed my arrival though and turned to face me.
"Oh hey Gon how was your day?" She asked and I swam over to her happily.
"It was good!! I practiced my hunting and got some fish for us! Ooo I also got your favorite!! I got you striped bass!!" I cheered and held out her favorite fish.
She grinned and took the fish with care.
"Aww thank you Gon that's so sweet of you.. I'll prepare this for us tomorrow for supper ok? It'll be better to eat after a few hours." She said and set the fish in our stash of food along with the other ones I had caught.
When she finished, she turned around to face me again but froze. I saw her sniffing a little and I became petrified. Crap I forgot to rid of the human scent.. I'm in deep trouble now unless I come up with a good fat excuse.
"Gon... why do I smell humans... on you?" She asked with a strict manner in her words.
I clenched my teeth and scratched my head.
"Oh um sorry about that, when at the beach there were some human clothes in the sand and I uh rubbed against them on accident sorry." I say and she sighed.
"Alright well... just make sure you don't get too close to the beach. Humans are still around there and could spot you.." she told me while turning on our glowing coral for light.
"Ya sorry I'll keep my distance.." I say slightly relieved to hear that I escaped the possible punishments.
It was silent now and I swam over to some sea sponge we had set up in the corner for a spot to sit. I curled up though upon it and looked at my aunt who had finished tampering with the glowing coral.
"Hey Aunt Mito.. will I actually get to meet Ging someday?" I asked out of the blue.
Now after I met those humans... I wanted to meet Ging more than ever now.
"Gon I... I'm not sure... Ging could be anywhere out there. Probably very far from here... it's a low chance that he'd actually come back.." My aunt said and I frowned.
"But when I go to that beach now, I just imagine that maybe one day he'll be there... waiting for me..." I said sadly while my Aunt became worried.
"Oh Gon im so sorry... it's just your father may never come back, I want you to be prepared for that possibility." She said.
I frowned to that and swam up from my spot.
"Oh well... I think he will come back..." I say before swimming out of the room and going to mine.
I went over to my sea sponge like bed and laid down.
I didn't think Ging would actually just leave me behind for good... right?
I felt like crying, but that's when I remembered those blue eyes again. Killua.. he made me so happy today. It's hard to be sad now remembering the time we spent together. Now I felt excitement take me over, knowing that tomorrow I'll get to see him again!
I calmed my excitement though so I could fall asleep. So I closed my eyes in the process and grinned despite being exhausted.
Goodnight Killua, tomorrow I will see you again
