KABANATA LXVI
Third Person's POV
Meanwhile, after deciding to travel independently, Chief Zevian and his group temporarily settled in a secluded village deep within the north forest.
To be honest, they discovered the tribe entirely by accident. They had been searching for supplies when they stumbled upon the small community.
What began as an unfortunate detour eventually became a blessing.
Someone there possessed exactly what they needed.
An elderly warlock named Tatay Fao had discovered a natural method of growing crops within a single week. Zevian's group had repeatedly tried persuading him to share his secret, but the old man remained stubbornly silent.
Ginawa na nila ang lahat—pagluluto, paglilinis, pag-iigib, at maging pagsisilbi sa mag-asawa—hoping they could somehow win his favor.
Yet nothing worked.
Every day followed the same exhausting routine with Tatay Fao and his wife, Nanay Olivia. Parehong mababait ang dalawa, but Zevian's group couldn't remain there forever.
Every passing hour mattered, especially because they had received no news from their pack for days.
As always, the elderly couple sat on their wooden rocking chairs.
They had heard their love story countless times because it was almost everything Olivia could still remember.
Her old age had taken away much of her memory. Ngunit ang kanilang pag-iibigan at mga kantang dati nilang kinakanta remained deeply embedded in her mind.
Their love was unmistakably genuine.
It must have been painful for Tatay Fao to watch the woman he loved slowly forget him, yet he never showed resentment. Instead, he simply smiled while playing his guitar, allowing Olivia to sing for hours.
It was their way of returning to the past—a time when they still remembered everything they had shared.
He immediately burst into laughter upon seeing the dark circles beneath the man's eyes.
"Pfftt!
"Welcome back, Chief!" Ngumiti lamang si Zevian.
"Where's Tatay Fao?"
