KABANATA LV

Third Person's POV

Saglit na kinusot ni Ophir ang kanyang mga mata, desperately trying to convince himself that exhaustion was playing tricks on him.

Ngunit nang muli niyang imulat ang mga iyon, there was no mistake. Everly was truly standing there, several meters away, facing a demon powerful enough to tear through the battlefield.

He wanted to teleport beside her, but the unpredictable lightning made it impossible. Isang maling hakbang lamang and he could be struck before completing the spell. Kaya nanatili siyang nakamasid, carefully tracking every movement she made.

She was unbelievably strong. Kung siya ang nasa kalagayan nito, he would have been dead after the first attack. Yet Everly continued fighting, even while her body visibly deteriorated.

Her determination reminded Ophir of the Alpha's reaction after Everly disappeared. Greyson had ordered Beta Jake to expand their secret group, filling it with warlocks specially trained in tracking.

For weeks, they searched every possible location, but no one returned with useful information.

Unti-unti nang nauubos ang pag-asa nilang mahanap si Everly. The Alpha himself had changed drastically. He became colder, quieter, and almost completely withdrawn, keeping every thought buried beneath an emotionless expression.

Mas lalo pang naging kumplikado ang lahat nang mapasama sa mga pinagkakatiwalaan niya si Prince Yophiel. Yophiel had told Greyson everything he discovered that night, including Everly's deception about suffering from the cursed illness created by the Dark Coven.

The revelation had shaken the Alpha deeply. Ophir remembered how badly Greyson struggled with the truth, especially after learning that Everly could alter her appearance and wield strange, powerful abilities. There had been countless moments when Ophir wanted to reveal everything he knew, but fear of the consequences kept him silent.

He could still remember Greyson staring at the reports, refusing to accept that Everly might never return. Ophir had seen the Alpha become impatient with the failures, yet beneath that anger was something painful. He was afraid. Hindi man iyon inaamin ni Greyson, everyone close to him could see that Everly's disappearance had left a wound he could not hide.

Now, seeing her alive before him, Ophir finally understood why the search had felt so desperate. Everly was not another missing member of the pack. She was carrying secrets, powers, and enemies that could change everything.

And judging by this battlefield, she had become the center of this catastrophe.

A sudden explosion pulled him back to reality.

Napapikit si Ophir at mabilis na itinaas ang dalawang kamay nang magsalpukan ang kapangyarihan ni Everly at ng demonyong kalaban nito. The impact sent a violent shockwave through the forest, shaking trees and scattering debris across the battlefield.

Nang muli niyang buksan ang mga mata, nakita niyang napaubo ng dugo si Everly. Mahigpit nitong hinawakan ang dibdib, while dark veins had become increasingly visible beneath her pale skin.

Concern immediately seized him.

The moment an opening appeared, Ophir teleported beside her and formed a barrier just as another devastating attack came crashing toward them.
