KABANATA LXVIII

Third Person's POV

Meanwhile, on the other end of the battlefield...

Lukariah stood at the edge of the frozen battlefield, both hands raised as she whispered an ancient incantation. Sa bawat salitang binibigkas niya, kumikilos ang mga anino sa ilalim ng yelo, slithering forward like serpents before coiling around Crescentmoon warriors and dragging them into consuming darkness.

Just like Everly, every movement Lukariah made claimed countless lives. The casualties continued to pile up, and the battlefield slowly transformed into a horrifying graveyard.

"This ends here, Lukariah."

Without hesitation, Everly raised her hand and unleashed several beams of brilliant light, shooting toward Lukariah like sharpened arrows.

Lukariah responded instantly. She summoned twisting tendrils of darkness that intercepted the light, absorbing its radiance before it could reach her. The collision created a deafening explosion, causing the frozen ground beneath them to tremble.

"Sure, it will."

Slowly, she walked toward Everly, the darkness surrounding her expanding with every step. The black aura pushed against Everly's light, forcing her backward.

Everly's aura suddenly intensified.

With a sharp cry, she brought her palms together, releasing a powerful burst of light that temporarily shattered Lukariah's shadows. The impact sent the young Alpha sliding several feet across the ice, yet she remained composed, a faint smirk still visible on her lips.

Your real enemy is the pack, not my child. She's as broken as you, Everly. I hope you can find it in yourself to remember that when you face her.

"Impressive," Lukariah said, wiping the blood from the corner of her lips. "But tell me, Everly, how long can you keep burning before your own light destroys you?"

Despite the blood staining her face, Lukariah's determination remained unshaken.

"You may think you've lost everything," Everly said quietly, "but there is someone out there praying for your safety, Lukariah. Your mother."

Instead, the darkness around Lukariah intensified.

"You know nothing, woman."

"Mother? I have no such thing." Her voice became frighteningly cold before she launched herself toward Everly once again.

Lukariah slammed both hands against the ground.

The shadows beneath her exploded outward like a monstrous tidal wave, racing toward Everly. She countered with a wall of light, and when the two forces collided, the resulting explosion shook the earth and sent violent shockwaves across the battlefield.
