KABANATA LXIX

Third Person's POV

The battlefield trembled beneath the relentless clash of magic. Sa gitna ng nagyeyelong Grand Orleas, Everly and Lukariah remained locked in combat, their opposing powers colliding like violent storms.

Every burst of light met a wave of darkness, sending shockwaves across the battlefield and forcing nearby warriors to retreat.

Then, without warning, Crizelle and Lord Helian appeared through the chaos just after killing Nemya on the far side of the battlefield.

Crizelle moved with terrifying speed, seizing Lukariah from behind and twisting both her arms painfully behind her back. Her magic tightened around the young Alpha's body, restricting every movement.

Beside them, Helian raised the same dagger Crizelle had used to kill Nemya, positioning its bloodstained blade directly against Lukariah's chest.

Everly stopped while Ganesha froze in her place. She followed Crizelle's and Helian's dark energy in order to stop them from killing another important person—she's ready to go all out with her powers against the two, but they were fast to corner her child.

Lukariah was exhausted. Her once-commanding aura had weakened considerably, and her breaths came in uneven gasps. It took her several seconds to understand the danger she was in before Crizelle tightened her grip.

"Is this it, Lukariah?" Crizelle whispered beside her ear. "Not much of a fight left in you."

Naningkit ang mata ni Lukariah at pilit na nagpumiglas.

"You traitor!" Her scream was met with Crizelle's mocking laughter.

The woman increased the pressure of her magic, forcing a painful grunt from Lukariah.

Hours of fighting had finally taken their toll. Lukariah had spent nearly every ounce of her strength battling Everly without restraint.

Ngunit nang muli niyang tingnan ang kalaban, napansin niyang hindi rin maayos ang kalagayan nito.

Everly was breathing heavily. Her clothes were stained with blood, and several wounds that would normally heal almost instantly remained open.

They were both reaching their limits.

"Don't you dare hurt my daughter!" Ganesha suddenly charged forward.

But Everly immediately moved to stop her.

"Ganesha, wait!" Ganesha froze.

For the first time, her eyes met Lukariah's.

Her gaze was filled with longing, sorrow, and unbearable fear. Nakikita niya ang kanyang anak na halos nasa bingit na ng kamatayan, and the thought of watching Lukariah turn into ash like Nemya was enough to shatter whatever composure remained within her.

Yet Lukariah stared back without emotion. She looked at her mother as though she were nothing more than a stranger.

Something stirred painfully inside her chest upon finally seeing the face of the woman who had abandoned her. She immediately buried the feeling.
