CHAPTER 10

Jongdae knocked on the door of Kyungsoo and entered the office.

"Prez, aren't you going to leave now for Hemi and Jongin's dinner meet? I'm leaving soon. Do you need me to do something else before I go?" seeing his boss smiling from ear to ear whilst reading some documents.

"Please order me a bouquet of flowers and get me a reservation at my favourite restaurant. Around six will be fine. Also send the flowers in there. And oh, I will not come, tell my apologies to Jongin." Kyungsoo instructed his assistant with a twinkle in his eyes.

Jongdae quizzically looked at him and frowned, "But Jongin knew--"

Kyungsoo held up his hands to stop him. He is not angry but rather smiled mysteriously. "Do it." he commanded.

'Wow! Talk about weirdness...' Jongdae cannot do anything but to obey. He left Kyungsoo's office and sat down in front of his desk dialling the florist shop. 'I wonder what's he up to now?'

He already finished making the reservation when Jongin entered.

"You're still here? I just passed by, wanted to see if Kyungsoo is ready to go." he greeted.

"I'm almost done. Actually, I'm about to call you to inform that Prez will not be coming to the dinner."

"What?! He agreed on that ages ago! This is the reason why I came, I knew this will happen." Jongin fumed. "What's he doing anyway?"

"I think he's finishing some important documents. But he asked me to book a reservation in a restaurant, probably some client or something, he did not mention it to me."

Jongin didn't say anything but proceeded to Kyungsoo's office with Jongdae trailing behind.

Kyungsoo was still busy with some documents he's reading when Jongin bounded in front of him.

Jongdae stuck the post it note of the reservation in front of his boss' pen holder. Then left the room immediately without uttering his goodbyes.

"Why aren't you going to dinner with us? Hemi and I had invited the other bridesmaids and groom men to formally meet before the wedding this Saturday. We've already talked about this before." Jongin started enquiring even though Jongdae has not left the room yet.

"I've got tons of documents to review and files to approve before I take cover your position for a month during your honeymoon." Kyungsoo sighed, half-lying.

"Baekhyun, Rena and Jongdae will be there. Plus it's also your chance to know more of Hemi's bestfriends, Sonbi, and Eunmi, the one you didn't meet on our engagement party, Hemi's maid of honour." persuaded Jongin.

"Even if I attend the dinner meet today, I still have to come back here and finish these papers. Those three or four hours of socializing would save me some decent sleep, Jongin-ah. Don't worry I will attend your wedding and be part of your entourage." Kyungsoo quickly added as he saw Jongin's stiff face. He is now ashamed of himself for lying this bad.

He is supposed to be assisting Jongin with the wedding preparations himself instead he asked Jongdae to hire the best wedding planner in the country. That is the best he can do as Jongin's best man.

He didn't want to lie to his bestfriend but he can't afford to lose the opportunity of meeting his woman. He has been waiting for this eversince that fateful night. Tonight will be the night. He promised himself he would make up for Jongin somehow big time. He just could not let today pass without speaking to her and he felt his time is running out.

"You're my best man, for goodness' sake!" Jongin knew that once Kyungsoo has decided on something, it will persist and cannot be changed.

"Tell me, which influential people are you meeting today causing you to ditch your bestfriend?" he does not want to sound like a nagging wife but Jongin was quite disappointed. This dinner is one of those events that he needed support.

Kyungsoo just apologetically smiled. He will tell him when the time is right, same goes for Baekhyun. There will be plenty of time to know Hemi's friends during the wedding, his Ms. Cha is his top priority at the moment.

He cannot believe that she is just within his circle after seeing her earlier on. Remembering the incident, a thought clicked in his brilliant mind.

'Jongdae! He must have known her.' he picked up the intercom to call him. 'Why didn't it occur to him earlier on?'

"Oh well, it's worth a try. But don't forget to eat, Kyungsoo." seeing his bestfriend becoming busy again, Jongin sighed and stood up from his seat.

"Yes, Eomma! I wonder if Hemi knew how thoughtful you are, hehehe!" Kyungsoo snickered still waiting for Jongdae to pick up the other line.

"That's why she is marrying me!" Jongin smiled proudly.

"Jongdae is not picking up." he said more to himself.

"He's going to our dinner meet, you forget? Lay him off, will you. He's the most reliable and trustworthy assistant you've ever had, give him a break just this once." his bestfriend told him.

"I know, I want to ask him something important. No hard labour." Kyungsoo smiled.

He waved goodbye to his bestfriend as he opened the oak office door. Jongin saluted but was stopped from exiting the room.

"Wait!" Kyungsoo caught something in his eyes and fixed his stare to what his bestfriend was holding.
