Chapter 21

CHAPTER 21

"I'm starting to think I'm a boring person." said Eunmi.

"Huh?" Kyungsoo said again looking confusedly at her.

"I said, a penny for your thoughts? You've been quiet and sighing for the past 15 minutes."

"I'm sorry. I guess I'm just thinking about the extra work I'm going to do since Jongin is gone for a whole month." he smiled.

"Oh my God! You're such one stingy boss!" Eunmi pretended to be shocked.

Although, she knew he is far from it, being in the advertising industry for years and occasionally reading an article or two about him. "For goodness' sake, he just got married to my bestfriend. They need to have a honeymoon otherwise you'll get stung by Hemi!" she feigned, mocking him.

"I didn't mean that." he lifted both of his arms in surrender and defended himself. "I'm not lifting my seat but I think I'm very far from that. Being in the business for more than eight years now, I have not since received any complaints yet. Not that I know of." Kyungsoo was deeply thinking, frowning.

Eunmi laughed heartily at what he said. "I was just joking! You should have seen your face! I know you are not that kind of a boss. Otherwise we would have read about that. You might not know about this but in the business world, there are also gossip-mongers like in the showbiz."

Kyungsoo laughed.

It was a lovely night with slight breeze from the sea. The night sky is clear with the moon and stars shining down upon them, Eunmi unknowingly started rubbing her arms feeling the cold breeze passing by. Seeing her gesture, Kyungsoo removed his suit and put it on Eunmi. She was embarrassed but gladly thanked him feeling the same electricity coursing through her skin when his fingers lightly touched her shoulders.

There is nothing that Kyungsoo would like to do but to hold and embrace Eunmi however he controlled himself. As much as he wanted to proclaim his love for her, he knows it is too soon.

Few moments passed by with no words exchanged between them except for Kyungsoo sighing next to her.

"A lot of people including my friends and family described me as a very approachable person. However, I am now doubting if that is true." Eunmi said after some time.

"Why is that?" Kyungsoo asked.

"Because this is the very first time I met someone who is very silent in front of me."

"I'm sorry, Eunmi. I'm just..." Eunmi looked at Kyungsoo inquisitively.

"Will you believe me if I say I'm a bit nervous?" Eunmi frowned at him.

"Why? Is it me? Do I look scary to you?!"

"You are not, no! Sorry, let me explain." Kyungsoo held Eunmi by the arms. "I'm nervous because I really, really like you a lot and I do not want you to think of me as a very forward person, I just don't know how to bring it to you. And definitely I do not want to scare you. I've got so much to say to you but I cannot seem to know how to put them in words! You might think what my dad said about me is also true." blurted Kyungsoo.

Eunmi blushed hard, lucky it was dark so Kyungsoo cannot see how elated she is. So Sonbi is right. She sweetly smiled at him.

"Try me." Eunmi challenged.

"Will you go out with me, exclusively?" Kyungsoo asked staring at her eyes, hope in his voice.

"I believed I've already said yes for tomorrow."

"No, I meant can I be the only man in your life? Can I apply as your boyfriend?"

Eunmi screamed in her head as she cannot believe what she is hearing. This dashingly handsome man in front of her wanted her as his girlfriend! Do Kyungsoo. The most eligible bachelor in the country is applying to be her boyfriend! She wanted to jump from happiness but instead giddily gripped the recliner to avoid her from shouting.

As much as she wanted to flash her a smile and say yes right away, Eunmi kept a straight face and asked, "Why?"

"Because that's what my heart is telling me eversince I laid my eyes on you. All I know is you will complete my life and I feel it will never be the same again if you are not with me. I wanted to regret the years you are not in it." Kyungsoo tried to convey all his pent-up emotions whilst looking for her since that fateful night they shared.

Eunmi's breath was abated upon hearing Kyungsoo's words. No man had ever told her sweet words like that with convictions. Yes, she had plenty of suitors and past boyfriends, they were never that sincere.

"Please give me a chance to prove it to you." pleaded Kyungsoo whilst holding her hands.

Eunmi shyly smiled and nodded, "You can start tomorrow."

Kyungsoo's face broke into triumphant smile, hugged Eunmi then released her and kissed her lightly on the lips. "Thank you, thank you! You don't know how you made me happy."

Shocked, she hit him lightly on his arm, "I gave you my permission to go out with you but kissing me is not yet on the cards, mister!"

Kyungso hugged her again, "I am not sorry I did that I am just happy that you agreed to go out with me. I can't believe I deserve someone as beautiful as you."

"Thank you but you are handsome yourself. I just don't understand why me. There are other woman out there far more beautiful with the same status as you. What did you see in me?" Eunmi curiously asked.

"I do not think I have an answer to that. My heart wants you and that is what I am going to follow. I have never felt this way to anybody. Why do I have to look at others if I know I only want you. I cannot explain it but eversince I saw you I cannot stop thinking about you." Kyungsoo was looking intently at her eyes.

Though Eunmi was very happy with his response, her heart is continuously racing. She really cannot believe the high and mighty Do Kyungsoo likes her so much. She wondered when it started since today is the first time they spent with each other. Eunmi will certainly ask him that question in the future.

"My family is not well-off compared to you. I do not want any rumours spread about me." Eunmi stated lowering her head.

Kyungsoo held her hands and said, "I will trade all of my richness just to be with you. Money is not comparable to how precious you are to me."

Eunmi smiled, "You pass."

Kyungsoo's face lit up and once again, hugged and kissed her lightly.

"That's 2 already!", Eunmi exclaimed. "I think I need to rescind my decision!" she huffed feigning anger.

"Please, no ... Again, I am not sorry but -", begged Kyungsoo. He looked like a lost puppy and Eunmi finds him very cute.

Eunmi kept quiet for a few moments but she was actually giggling inside, "Ok, I will continue to give you a chance unless you guessed my favourite dessert. Show it tomorrow on our lunch date."

"Done." Kyungsoo said.

"No cheating though, you can't ask our friends." Eunmi said as she already guessed what he is thinking.

Seeing the determined look on Kyungsoo's face, she smiled. "You're too serious."

Kyungsoo laughed and Eunmi joined him. After some time, Eunmi become serious again.

"Kyungsoo..."

"Hmm..."

"I think you need to get approval from my bestfriends if you really want to be my boyfriend. Both Yeol and Jongin have undergone the same initiation to earn our trust, or else Hemi-ah and Sonbi-ah will make your life difficult." she warned.

"I am more than ready." Kyungsoo confidently said.

They continued conversing, asking each other's life, learning about themselves as time passed by. Still holding hands, Eunmi feels her eyelids getting heavier as she listens to Kyungsoo's story about his parents.

Kyungsoo felt Eunmi's head on his shoulder. Seeing her sleeping, he enveloped her into his arms and leaned their bodies into the recliner.

He listened to her breathing as he kissed her forehead and uttered, "I love you so much, Eunmi-ah. You are the only woman I wanted to be with for the rest of my life."

With that, Kyungsoo closed his eyes as the moon and stars twinkled up in the cloudless night sky.
