Chapter 22

CHAPTER 22

Eunmi kept on tossing and turning whilst lying despite being in bed for more than an hour.

Today's events kept replaying on her mind. Her conversation with Kyungsoo and the hours she spent with him was exceptional. Actually, she was feeling ecstatic and awestruck at the same time. Never she experienced this bliss!

It was actually embarrassing when she woke up with her head leaning comfortably on Kyungsoo's chest and the man looking at her. Apparently, she placidly dozed off in the middle of their conversation. How humiliating! She just hoped that she did not drool or had her mouth gaping whilst sleeping otherwise Kyungsoo's liking of her might drop by a point or two.

Talk about losing your poise!

To begin with, Eunmi does not have that demure, lady-like persona compared to Hemi. When she is at the comfort of their home, her bestfriends kept nagging at her for being a slob. Well, that is how at ease she wants to be. Except when going out, be it to the supermarket or simply going down to the ground floor to retrieve their posts, Hemi won't let her leave unless she's satisfied with her outfit. Eunmi prefers those old, worn out pants and baggy shirts over some girly outfits that makes her feel very awkward when she wore them despite her bestfriends' assurance she looks pretty on those.

There are only two reasons she is putting up with the clothes Hemi kept suiting her for the office, ONE: she wants to look professional, and TWO: it makes her look less of a tomboy. Deep inside, she is still a 100% girl.

And that what makes Kyungsoo special to her. Day one they met and spent serious time together, she's all relaxed and at eased. She is comfortable with him and she does not have an explanation for that nor fathom the situation. Eunmi bet once they get closer and personal, her guard will be down as quickly as the stocks in the market.

Oh yeah, they've already done that!

'Wait a second!' she grimaced as she bolt sat upright. How could she allow herself to behave like that? How could she allow a man she barely knew, to hold, hug and kiss her?! Even twice! And to think they have not started dating yet. What have become of her? She felt nothing but a flirt. Could Kyungsoo maybe find out she's an easy woman that is why he freely taken subtle advances on her? Advances which she did not mind and did not think as perverse.

She scratched her head absentmindedly, 'Wow! My mind is going into overdrive with these wild thoughts. But I'm sure I didn't act like that, not even a single day ever since I've started dating!' defended by half of her brain. 'Besides, I like him equally he likes me.' never she would deny that. 'Was it love at first touch?'

'Ha ha, funny.' she thought. Since she have encountered him previously over the years of her career, her first sight of him did not evoke any emotions. Although, it was amusing and puzzling that their skin-to-skin contacts today (which was numerous and felt embarrassed about it!) awaken something inside of her.

Cha Eunmi is not the typical romantic type of person but she only wants to be with someone that will sweep her heart completely. Could that be Kyungsoo?

Remembering how the man opened every door for her when he drove her home and ensuring that she safely entered their condo after skittishly saying her gratitude and good nights, squashed the doubting other half of her brain. But still the sane woman inside her was trying to admonish her for acting up too candid to a man she barely knew. What matters most now is to keep herself in check every time they will go out for a date. She needs to set her boundaries starting tomorrow.

Eunmi looked at her bedside clock, squinting for the time. It read half past one.

'Great, just great!' she thought. She can comfortably sleep with Kyungsoo beside her but she can't on her own. 'What now?'

Deciding to have a drink knowing that sleep eludes her now, she got up from the bed and went to the kitchen. As much as she would like to knock on Sonbi's room for some words to check her sanity and to settle the raging qualms in her head, Eunmi decided not to do so. She knew Yeol is spending the night with her and she does not want to disturb them. She suddenly misses Hemi. Her other bestfriend would have been the perfect person she can confide to in this kind of torrent she's in. She wished though that they have arrived in Bahamas safely.

Funny it seem that she was always been the one advising the ladies on what to do when a problem arises, be it some complicated love troubles down to ridiculous decision on which toothpaste to purchase. Eunmi can't seem to find the solution for her own difficulty.

But come to think of it, there is really no problem in the first place. A man likes her and she likes him back, its simple. That's the end of it supposedly.

To Eunmi, it is very, very confusing.

Walking quietly down the hallway, Eunmi was surprised to find the lights in the kitchen on. Sonbi was behind the fridge door as she approached the cupboard for a cup. Eunmi cannot quite comprehend how did she become bestfriend with this pink-toting princess seeing her ultra pink fluffy bunny slippers, neither understand how did her bestfriend manage to attract one of the most elusive bachelor in town, when they are poles apart.

"Hey, Sonbi-ah." she greeted as she hold on to the fridge door. Poor Sonbi almost jumped, clutching the gallon of milk and glass hard to her chest.

"You gave me a fright!" squeaked Sonbi.

"Sorry, sis. Can you please pass me the water jug." Eunmi asked as she sat in the dining chair.

"Can't sleep?" her bestfriend inquired as she sat next to her as well, pouring water into her glass.

Eunmi thanked her and drank some water before answering. "You can say that again." she said sighing.
