Chapter 53

CHAPTER 53

Eunmi always makes it a point to tell him how her day was. So when her husband fell asleep whilst she was telling him her first day back at work, she got so furious. She walked out on him and shouting not to follow her leaving him bewildered and worried at the same time.

Actually there was no reason for Eunmi to feel that way but she guessed her hormone levels were just sky high at that time. She knew her husband had a very hard week at work with those all-nighters he and his directors / bestfriends are pulling off. But she can't control herself being irrational.

Eunmi ended up in the condo that night after ceaselessly walking in the mall to cool off. After calming a bit and thinking, she felt ashamed of herself on how she acted to her husband ending up crying as she arrived making Sonbi worried.

She only stopped when her bestfriend threatened to murder Kyungsoo if she does not tell her what was wrong as she was guided to the living room.

After drinking some water, Eunmi told Sonbi all about her silliness and not wanting to go home as she felt embarrassed with the way she behaved and started crying again stating she is not even carrying her phone to let Kyungsoo know where she is.

Sonbi wanted to laugh at her bestfriend but just listened and reassured her everything will be alright once she wakes up. Eunmi is pregnant and has the license to be irrational and sensitive so she just ordered her to take a rest in her room and to stop crying otherwise her baby will also feel sad.

Perhaps due to exhaustion, Eunmi immediately fell asleep and Sonbi wasted no time to call Kyungsoo for she knew he must be worried sick.

True to that, Kyungsoo arrived in no time at the condo looking anxious and worried.

"Sorry Sonbi, but where is my wife?" Kyungsoo asked in a hurried manner as soon as Sonbi greeted him by the entrance door.

"Haven't I told you not to make her cry?" huffed Sonbi whilst arms crossed.

"Again, I apologise but I didn't know falling asleep can make her snapped like that. Next minute, she was shouting at me and walked out. She did not even bring her phone with her."

Sonbi sighed, "She is pregnant, Kyungsoo-ah. What do you expect. Just be patient with her."

"God knows I am."

"Oh well. She's in her room, she fell asleep. 'Think she got tired."

"Thanks, Sonbi." Kyungsoo said and quickly went straight to Eunmi's room.

He saw his wife peacefully sleeping but noticed her face is a bit puffy, perhaps from crying. He joined her in bed and embraced her whispering, "I'm sorry, honey. Next time I will pay more attention to you."

He caressed her face whilst continuously whispering 'I love you'.

Kyungsoo was dead tired but the worry he felt whilst looking for her was like an adrenaline shot to his whole system. He felt like something is squeezing his heart. It was only a few hours he did not know where Eunmi was that he thought he will go crazy. Surely he knew he won't be able to live being apart from her, more precisely, without her in his life.

He continued caressing Eunmi's cheek until her eyes fluttered open.

Eunmi's eyes started to water as soon as she realized her husband was next to her.

They both spoke at the same time.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't cry please." Kyungsoo said whilst kissing her eyes.

"I'm sorry I shouted at you and left like that." Eunmi faintly said.

"It's my fault. I never listened to what you are saying but instead fell asleep."

"I should be more understanding, I know you were tired, I... I- don't know why was I like that."

"You are pregnant, Honey, it's understandable."

Eunmi just snuggled into his chest and cried, whilst whispering, "I'm a bad wife."

"Hush now, you are not. You are just overly sensitive because you're pregnant that's all. The Eunmi I know is very kind and understanding. Your mood is just affected by your hormone levels." Kyungsoo soothingly said to reassure her.

Eunmi's tear-stained face looked up at Kyungsoo. "You're not angry with me?"

"Why would I? You are my wife and the mother of my baby. For that, I love you so much." He wiped her cheeks dry. "It hurts me seeing you crying like this, please stop crying."

"I love you too, so much." Eunmi responded and give her husband a small smile. "I promise I will try to control myself and keep m-"

"You don't need to control yourself, you can be angry at me all the time to your heart's content." interrupted Kyungsoo.

"That will be unfair to you. Your work is already hectic and taxing, and my different moods adding to the mix is just too much. What do you think I'm going to feel?"

"We are a team, Honey. This is what I promised you at the altar, through thick and thin I will remain the same. Alright? So don't worry, I will not think any differently."

"Thank you, Honey. Please be more patient with me..."

"I promise." Kyungsoo smiled and raised his hand in pledge.

Eunmi smiled too and snuggled more to his husband's chest.

After some silence, Eunmi spoke, "I don't like the feeling of us having misunderstanding. I hope this will never happen again in the future. I was so worried that you are angry at me and I was also afraid to sleep without you by my side tonight."

"Me too, I also don't like the feeling of being apart from you not knowing where you were, but I will move heaven and earth just to find where you are if ever that happens again. Starting today, it is zero tolerance, do you agree?" Kyungsoo said to Eunmi who nodded her head.

"Promise."

"By the way Honey, are you hungry? Do you want to eat chicken feet? I'll call for a delivery, it is not that late." Kyungsoo asked her.

"No, am alright, thank you. I just want stay like this with you."

"Then do you want to go home now?"

"Let's just sleep here, I'm too comfortable to even bother."

With that Kyungsoo gave her a kiss on her forehead and embraced her as he hummed a melody whilst stroking his wife's hair until both fell asleep.

Meanwhile, Sonbi softly knocked outside of Eunmi's room. She wanted to ask them if they wanted to join Yeol, who just arrived, for a quick meal.

No response nor sound was heard inside so she gently opened the door. Seeing the two peacefully sleeping whilst embracing each other, Sonbi closed the door again smiling then went back to the kitchen to start serving meal for her fiancé.
