Chapter 16

CHAPTER 16

Kyungsoo is seated in his private jet with Jongin and Jongdae waiting their clearance for take-off at Nagoya airport.

It was another taxing and busy day for him. He was holding his mobile phone and kept on looking at a particular number on the screen. Seeing his assistant sleeping opposite him, he dialled the number.

Unfortunately, the steward approached them to inform that they will take off soon and to switch off their mobiles and laptop. Kyungsoo regrettably pressed the hang up button and sighed.

This is the nth time he tried ringing Eunmi but is always stopped from doing so. He can only stare at his mobile phone.

Jongin who was seated beside him, looked at him whilst he tucked his laptop away.

"What's the problem? Are you thinking about the incident?" Jongin asked pertaining to the fire that engulfed the corporation's mobile and telephone factory injuring two local employees.

Kyungsoo breathed heavily, deciding if he is going to tell Jongin his dilemma or not.

"No. It's already settled and our employees were safe. Chief Namoto and his crew can handle the rest plus the insurance will fix everything."

"So what's wrong?" Jongin asked again. His bestfriend is really perceptive. Maybe growing up together made them attuned to each other's feelings.

Kyungsoo looked at Jongdae, who gave Eunmi's number to him when he asked for it after reading the detectives report yesterday, a very thorough report indeed.

"It's about Eunmi." he murmured softly.

Jongin looked at him confusedly. "Who?"

"How many Eunmi do you know?" Kyungsoo mockingly asked.

"You mean Cha Eunmi, Hemi's bestfriend? What about Eunmi? I thought you don't know her personally."

"Remember the time I've told you and Baekhyun regarding the unidentified woman I've slept with at Marriott Hotel?" Kyungsoo sadly started.

"Yes. Go on." His bestfriend nodded. He divulged everything to Jongin even the time he hired some private investigators to look for Eunmi.

"It was... her?!" Jongin was completely stupefied. His mouth was gaping low with all the information he learned.

Kyungsoo told him that it happened the night of Hemi's bridal shower, which he deduced during the dinner meet.

Jongdae stirred in his seat. Kyungsoo looked at him warily. Jongin whispered, "But you said she doesn't know anything..."

"Yes, but I think I like her." Kyungsoo whispered back.

"You have to tell her, Kyungsoo. Her friends and family are very protective of her." Jongin said whilst motioning to Jongdae. He is happy for Kyungsoo although he does not know how to help him.

"I've been meaning to ask her out eversince the contract signing but some things always come up. You know, we're almost always together." Kyungsoo feels so pathetic.

He only needed one phone call to Eunmi and yet he has not done so for all the known reasons. Why is it so hard for him to place a call to his beloved? What is the use of his richness when he can't even complete a simple task?

The day after Jongin and Hemi's dinner meet, God knows calling Eunmi was the first most important task he has to do as soon as he woke up but instead he was awaken by Jongdae's call very early to inform him about a strike organised by the union rep of one of their factories, which they knew nothing about. It then became three days of gruelling mediation meetings and investigations that led to the arrest of the deputy director and a few key management officers.

This was then followed by an emergency meeting in their Hongkong branch hotel, then now in Japan. He knew he has not slept in his own bed for the past week in which nights, or rather few hours of sleep, were mostly spent either in a hotel or in his private jet. He can easily ask a couple of his directors to sort the problems however that is not how he operates. He always tries to involve himself in all company crisis as much as possible in order to provide first hand report to his dad.

Because of the past week's work, they always finishes late which means Eunmi must be already sleeping or still asleep when he wakes up very early to resume. Hence the reason until now he has not called the love of his life.

If Baekhyun hears his revelation, it will be chaos. He knows Baekhyun will go on his way to help him out no matter how crude the result would be.

But does he need the help? He just wanted to tell everything to Eumi yet she doesn't want her to accuse him of raping her or whatever. He does not want her telling him to disappear in her life, he just want a chance with her. Because he has fallen in love with her.

Jongin could see the distraught emotions in Kyungsoo's face. He feels sorry for his bestfriend for he knew the result would be invariably difficult to tell once Eunmi learns the truth.

"You've got the chance tomorrow Kyungsoo-ah. After my wedding, talk to her alone but make sure you tell her how you feel first."

"I'm even willing to offer her marriage." Kyungsoo seriously said.

"Goodluck, buddy! You can do it." Jongin sincerely said. He understand now why the mighty Kyungsoo is looking lost the past few weeks.

"Let's keep it this way. It's safe with Baekhyun but don't tell Hemi yet please." Kyungsoo asked his friend who nodded.

Thinking about tomorrow, Kyungsoo smiled. Tomorrow he will tell Eunmi no matter what. Even though she will hate him afterwards, he will show her his determination to correct it. He once swore to himself that he will make her his. He will make sure that he will be the only and last man in Eunmi's life.
