CHAPTER 14
Hemi, elegantly dressed in a tight, fitting blouse, black pants and stiletto, entered Eunmi's room. Seeing her bestfriend peacefully sleeping whilst cuddling a pillow, she chuckled. She opened the curtains then bounded on the bed to wake her up.
"Eunmi dear, wake up! You're going to be late for work."
Still asleep and lightly snoring, Eunmi did not budge. Hemi frowned. She noticed these past few days, Eunmi loves to sleep. Perhaps, her work is wearing her too much just like yesterday when she came home late as usual.
Usually, Eunmi wakes up early amongst the three of them, then waking Sonbi and her up during weekdays however late she had slept the night before. Weekends are a different story, unless one of them has a business trip to go to, or if Sonbi will stay at Yeol's place, then Eunmi will be the one to cook their breakfast. She relied heavily from her with regards to time, to the point of funnily nominating her as their alarm clock. Truthfully, she is relying almost everything as well to both Eunmi and Sonbi, being the baby of the group. Eunmi obviously does not mind due to the fact that she is the eldest among them, her caring nature, sometimes acting like their mother, comes out naturally.
There are also times when Sonbi will cook their breakfast even if Yeol had stayed for the night, whilst Eunmi will do some stretching exercises. Since she is practically hopeless in the kitchen, she will spend the waiting time beautifying herself before going to her boutique.
It is really ironic that she's the first amongst them to get married. The fact that Hemi lacks basic knowledge on chores like cooking and laundry. Well, she cannot help it if her parents treated her as their princess being the only child. The same goes for her bestfriends who knew her for being eternally clumsy and accident-prone, more often landing her in the emergency hospital.
And all of her flaws were accepted by Jongin, he knew everything embarrassing about her and loves her still to the core. Anyways, Jongin told her he has enough money to hire some help for them once they moved to their own house after getting married.
The routine is always after breakfast she will helped Eunmi clean the kitchen and wash the dishes whereas Sonbi goes back to her beauty sleep. Except if she has reserved caterings or new cuisines to create. Sonbi was alright with the set-up, of course having a culinary expertise under her belt. They are all living together comfortably and harmoniously for the past thirteen years, and never did their arrangement waver. Oh well, except by tomorrow she is getting married.
Hemi shook her again and this time Eunmi groaned. "Wake up, sleepyhead!"
"Hhmm... What... time is it? You ruined... my dream..." came the muffled protest of Eunmi.
"It's already 8:50am, Mi..." Hemi softly said, anticipating an outburst.
It took five seconds for Eunmi to absorb what Hemi said. She opened her eyes abruptly then bolted sitting in bed.
"Aaahhh! Why didn't you wake me up earlier?! I'm going to be late!" she shouted. Eunmi quickly moved to stand up but Hemi grabbed her wrist and push her back down in the bed.
"Relax! I have been waking you for the past five minutes but you're like a hardened lard. I thought you're up already but then I didn't smell any food nor hear someone cooking in the kitchen."
Eunmi calmed herself then stretched her arms and yawned. "Wait a second. You woke up early?" raising an eyebrow at Hemi.
"Nope. Jongin woke me up. I received a call from him very early to tell me he's going with Kyungsoo to Hongkong for a meeting." she answered. "I can't sleep anymore so I dressed early."
"That's new from you. Alright, I need to prepare for work now. I'll call the office to inform them I'm going to be late. Please wake Sonbi up." she stood up again. This time Hemi did not stop her.
"She's already up. Tell you what, call your boss and tell him you're not coming in today. He will let you since you have been working so hard these past few weeks. Tomorrow is my wedding, just relax today to avoid looking haggard. We are going to have breakfast outside then spa and shopping, girl bonding! How about that?" Hemi persuaded.
Eunmi was tempted but flatly said no.
"Too late!" Sonbi said as she entered the room holding the phone. "I've already called your office informing them."
"What?!" shrieked Eunmi. "I've never absented myself from work! I've got tons to do!" she helplessly said. That's practically true actually. Even when she is suffering from illness, she will still stubbornly go to work. Her professional ethics is too unrelenting.
"Exactly. You are too engross with your work, sometimes you're forgetting you have a life beside it. And what if you get sick?" Hemi pointed out.
Eunmi just looked at her uncaringly. Seeing this Hemi quickly added, "Come on, Eunmi-ah. I'm going to be married tomorrow and starting Sunday I won't be living here anymore. What is one day of no work makes you?" Hemi pleaded.
"I told them you are sick and feverish, might be down with a flu or something." Sonbi nonchalantly said as she entered her room then plopping on her bed with her pink Hello Kitty slippers.
"Ryu Sonbi!" growled Eunmi.
Sonbi just rolled her eyes, whilst Hemi hugged her. She exhaled loudly.
"Ok, ok. Let's go out. You all win." after some time, resigning to the fact that her bestfriends will not let her go anyways, she just smiled.
