Chapter 24

CHAPTER 24

Eunmi looked at her pale, perspiring face in the mirror. The bitter taste in her mouth made her grimace. She got up that morning feeling lousy and heavy, sensing the urge to vomit. Luckily, she was able to reach the toilet before puking her guts out.

Of all the days to be sick, it had to be the day of her first date with Kyungsoo. She had nothing to blame from being sick. Perhaps from yesterday's rendezvous at the beach? But she highly doubt it.

Gargling mouthwash to rinse her mouth, she thought of what she had drunk last night. She knew she had not had any hard liquor at the wedding, just sips of wine. It must be one of the foods that upsets her stomach then. Eunmi hoped no one from the guests were sick like her otherwise it might ruin Sonbi's reputation considering a lot of celebrities and high-profile people came to attend Hemi's and Jongin's wedding. She will have to ask her bestfriend if there were some news after her bath.

Thinking that soaking herself in the tub would alleviate the unpleasant sensation she is having, Eunmi added some perfumed bath salts before lowering herself in. She thought of taking some medicine but deliberated against it. The lukewarm water looked more enticing than taking some chemical pills.

She was right for it did calm her stomach and soothe her tired body making her feel much better than a while ago. Actually, she almost called Kyungsoo earlier on to cancel their date but contemplated against it. Since it's only a lunch date, she will have to ask Kyungsoo to bring her back immediately afterwards so she can rest. Probably it would be best if she continues her leave from work and take a week off now that all the accounts she were handling are stable. Her past few weeks were jam packed with work and loaded with business trips added to Hemi's wedding preparations, she needs to slow down or else Sonbi's words might come true. She might end up catching a flu or something.

Eunmi's train of thoughts were broken by a knock on her bathroom door. She heard Sonbi's high pitched voice.

"Eunmi-ah, I brought you some breakfast." Sonbi appeared thru the door holding a tray.

"Thanks, Son." she said reaching for her coffee. "I'm sorry I did not wake you up today, I guessed I was tired." chomping on a piece of toast.

"Not to worry. Yeolie needs to leave early anyways, he's golfing with the president of a company of one of the building projects he is making. So I have to make him breakfast too. Now, come out of there and let's dress you up. Your date will be here soon."

"Time flies. To tell you frankly, I'm not feeling well. By the way, did you hear anything unusual from one of the guests at the wedding yesterday?" Eunmi asked whilst getting out from her tub.

Sonbi was already checking out her wardrobe for a killer outfit. "What do you mean?"

"I woke up vomiting and nauseated. I was thinking it must be the food at the party." she explained.

Sonbi stopped rummaging, "Food poisoning? You know I'm very particular with the way I'm handling my catering since that incident four years ago. I have not heard anything from my logistics staff, otherwise they have called me. Yeolie didn't complain nor did I experience any symptoms either. Hmm..."

"I guessed it just me then. I think, Son you're right, I might be down with a flu or something. Oohh, that looks pretty."

"That's why we've been telling you to take some time off. Look, you being a workaholic, now its ruining your love life!"

"Stop nagging me. I do plan to take a week off starting tomorrow. And what love life? Me and Kyungsoo are not yet official, in case you have forgotten!"

"Yes, and you already held hands, hugged, and kissed." Eunmi glared at her. "You'll both eventually get there. Here, put this on."

Kyungsoo arrived earlier than expected at Eunmi's building. Picking up the boquet of flowers from the passenger seat after parking, he went out of his car giddily. Scanning the place as he blew a long breath, he entered the building and walked towards the elevator.

It's a good thing nobody was with him inside the elevator for he can't seem to contain his nervousness gripping the bouquet of flowers his holding so hard. He has never been this anxious and excited at the same time in his entire life, even when he had his first speech upon accepting the presidential position three years ago.

Kyungsoo is always calm and steady even though he is facing crises at work but now he looked like a teenager on his first date with the prom queen. Heck, that is what it feels like now that he's standing in front of Eunmi's condominium.

This is not his first rodeo on asking a woman to a date but last night with Eunmi, he hesitated big time, thinking she will reject him. Why is he feeling his confidence has lost him that he thinks she accepted this lunch date just to find if he is up to her standards? How insecure can he be?

Kyungsoo's stomach contents felt rallying inside. He is contemplating if he will just call her to cancel their date. He knew he will look like a dork if he did that. Plus he has a mission to accomplish today. He needs to tell Eunmi about their night together. Its now or never. This will be the perfect opportunity for him to be truthful about everything, his intentions, his feelings, his love for her.

God help him!

Kyungsoo was already standing in front of the door for a long time. Eunmi's neighbours might think of him as absurd if somebody saw him like that so he made up his mind. His feelings for Eunmi overpowered all weird thoughts inside his mind.

He was about to ring the doorbell when it opened on its own.
