CHAPTER 20

Sonbi quickly pulled Eunmi to the sides to talk to her. She was smiling mischievously at her.

"Tell me, what's the score between the two of you?" she inquired.

Eunmi looked at her, puzzled. "What are you talking about?"

"Eunmi-ah, I saw you and Kyungsoo being inseparable the entire day. That man looks only at you, my dear!" Sonbi giddily exclaimed. "I bet he asked you out already!" she excitedly said.

Eunmi can't help but smile as well. "No, he did not ask me out yet. But I think Sonbi-ah, I like him." she admitted.

"Oh yes he will!" Sonbi almost jumped and shouted with only Eunmi hearing her. She was shuddering with delight and gleeful for her bestfriend.

"And you'd better say yes, don't play hard to get or else!" her bestfriend suddenly stopped then pointed a finger at her while glaring.

"Aaahhh! You're making me go nuts!" Eunmi covered Sonbi's mouth although she managed to remove her hand.

"You're going to be the next to marry 'coz you caught the bouquet!!!"

"What are you talking about?! I said I like him as a person, I did not say I want to marry him for goodness' sake! I don't even know him that well. Personally, I mean. And you are the next one to walk down the aisle, have you forgotten?!" Eunmi exasperatedly expressed.

"But you admit you're attracted to the guy? I know you, Cha Eunmi! You look so good together!" Sonbi said dreamily.

Eunmi did not say anything to her bestfriend, yet. She has to wait and see if Kyungsoo is going to make his move. Although she was wishing for him to ask her out, and if he did, certainly she will agree. Maybe, as what Sonbi has said, they have spent almost the entire day together and learned a little of the charming guy. He is not even her date for that day but definitely Kyungsoo is acting like one.

Surprised that she got attracted to a man who belongs to the corporate world, it baffles her. She usually goes for the sporty type of guys. Kyungsoo got the face, yes but sporty? Eunmi knew his other side for some years now but she would love to explore about Kyungsoo beyond his title as the President of Do MultiCorp. more than what meets the eye.

She was about to tell Sonbi something when she saw Kyungsoo standing a few yards from them waiting for her. She did not know how long he was standing there. Eunmi hoped he did not hear anything embarrassing. She waved at him.
"Have you been standing there for a long time?" she asked.

Sonbi also turned with her mouth still curved in mischief.

"Oh hey, Kyungsoo." she said.

Kyungsoo walked closer to them and smiled. "No, I just came a few seconds ago."

"I see. Do you want to get back to the garden?"

"I'd like to have a dance with you again, if it's alright with you." he said.

Sonbi gave a look at Eunmi that says, 'He also like you'. She kept looking at her tauntingly while giving her hand a squeeze.

"You go ahead guys, I'll catch up with you later. I saw Yeol over there talking to Baekhyun and Jongdae." Sonbi excused herself as she walked towards her boyfriend.

Eunmi approached Kyungsoo who seems oblivious of Sonbi's reaction. Kyungsoo held her by the elbow as they walked back to the dancefloor.

He again became so tongue-tied when she is near him. What happened to the clever president in him?

He sighed. Eunmi heard him. "What's wrong?"

"Uhh, nothing..." he sheepishly grinned. Eunmi almost dropped her jaw with his boyish look. She blushed again. Why is her heart racing so frantically?

'Cool down, Eunmi.' she mentally said to herself. She does not want to embarrass herself in front of him.

As soon as they reached the dancefloor, Kyungsoo held her waist and gently pulled her closer to him. He just loved her smell, so sweet and intoxicating. Just like that night.

Eunmi placed her hands onto his neck. The minute their eyes met they were lost in their own world. No words were spoken between them but the constant gazing spoke volume.

They continued to sway to the soft music played by the band.

The place was somewhat loud from the nonstop buzzing of people laughing and talking merrily to each other in addition to the clinks and chinks of cutlery and glass wines. Still the two were unconcerned of their surroundings, letting their eyes and their hearts do the talking.

Kyungsoo knew at the back of his mind he has a mission to accomplish that night. He is contemplating if it is the right time and place to tell her. He was debating it with himself and he does not want to blow it.

"Do you want to take a stroll by the beach? It's kind of loud in here." he asked Eunmi.

"I guess so." she answered.

They left the dancefloor and traipsed down the stairs leading to the beach. Kyungsoo held onto her elbow the whole time putting Eunmi's mind concentrated on that part of her body.

As soon as they reach the sand, Eunmi removed her shoes and carried them as they walk.

"I forgot when was the last time I went to this kind of place. It's refreshing." she said as she inhaled the fresh sea breeze. "To think I love the sea."

Kyungsoo is still speechless. He cannot seem to bring up the topic. He was walking alongside Eunmi who did not seem perturbed by his silence.

Eunmi was enjoying the cool sea breeze on her face. Somehow the constant roll of the tide to the shore calmed her. The moon was the only guiding light they have apart from the distant lights coming from where they were before.

"Is someone going to be mad if I invite you for lunch tomorrow?" Kyungsoo regretted what he had asked the second it came out of his mouth. He regarded himself as a complete idiot since it was not what he is supposed to say. He knew for a fact that Eunmi is totally unattached based from the investigators report.

"Well, you could have been punched by now if there is." retorted Eunmi in a playful manner.

"Huh?" Kyungsoo looked dumbstruck with her answer. When did he become so dense in front of a woman? Perhaps it was Eunmi's presence that makes him experience all of feelings he never felt before.

Eunmi just smiled and looked at him, "I mean, why are you inviting me, what's the occasion?"

"I just want to, 'cause I lo-" he stopped. "-like you."

She blushed furiously while preening at him, "Thanks. Sure, why not."

"Ok, that's great!" he said. He almost blurted out his true feelings for her. Kyungsoo knew it will be weird if he said so, Eunmi might not believe him. They just 'officially' met each other today.

They continued strolling the beach until they reach an area lined by palm trees with recliner lounges and beach umbrellas situated in between. They sat side by side on one of the recliners over looking the wide sea in front of them.

Kyungsoo is really itching to tell her the things that had happened between them at the hotel but controlled himself. He does not want to ruin the night. He wants to enjoy Eunmi's company without her hating him. Kyungsoo knew he will not bear if that happens now that he is sure of his feelings for Eunmi. He is falling in love with her every second that passes by.

All details of the report given to him by the hired detectives were confirmed by Jongin and some by Jongdae, whom he proudly shared his earnest interest of Eumi. Jongdae was perplexed at first but seeing his genuine seriousness in his eyes gave his blessings.

Of course, Kyungsoo still kept two factual things from Jongdae, one is of sleeping with Eunmi when she was drunk, and second, hiring detectives to search for her. He does not want to be scorned and laughed at.
