CHAPTER 31

Eunmi cannot believe what was happening only a few hours after having conversation with her bestfriends. She has not yet recovered from her own revelation of being 'raped', but here she is again being confronted by her own parents at the moment.

She did plan on telling her family but did not realize it will be sooner than expected. It is actually reassuring that at least her friends were there to support her.

She and her bestfriends have decided to not make her assumptions known to others yet. They must investigate it first with the right connection before making it public.

After making plans on how to discreetly proceed with seeking justice, Eunmi never felt so lost in her life. If she only conceded when Yeol told her to wait at the bar to collect her at that time, this nightmare will never happen. Though her baby is not a nightmare but its no use crying over spilt milk now, she just has to fully face this on.

To think that whoever did abuse her, knows her face and must be roaming the public, in contrast to her not knowing who the bastard was. She might have already bumped into that man in public without knowing that it's the culprit.

Eunmi really did try to recall the man's face again but no image was materializing.

The most worrying part is she does not feel frightened nor creeped out of the assault.

One more thing, how come she does not feel violated or aggrieved? Was it because she enjoyed that 'dream', despite knowing it was a sexual assault? Or is it because that incident resulted to being pregnant for she likes children?

She cannot explain it but her feelings are in disarray right now.

Eunmi did not mention this to her bestfriends and kept it to herself.

Eunmi pulled herself out of her thoughts seeing her father pacing back and forth, she tried to put her thoughts behind for now.

Her parents who were mad, turned up suddenly in their condominium. It appears her boss had informed them that she was in the hospital when she called asking for an indefinite leave. It was rather unfortunate that her boss was in their hometown visiting Jongdae's parents when she called. Her parents were quite enraged for not being informed first hand about her hospitalization and travelled directly to confront her.

Yes, they were very worried of Eunmi but she knew at this moment her parents were also angry. They are both loving parents but are very traditionally strict. The thing is it has been her habit of always informing her parents about her condition or any problems she has, and this is the first time she did not, especially something this big.

Poor Jongdae was dragged into the mess. He was the first to experience her parents' outrage. That is because he had promised Eunmi's parents to look after her the first time she came to the city, therefore he did not have any choice but to reveal the truth. Especially when they threaten him to tell his own parents about a heirloom he lose in a bet when he was much younger. However, that was a different story.

Jongdae didn't know what to do. Seeing Eunmi being derided by her parents like that, he cannot help but feel pity for his friend. Half of him wants to save her from further embarrassment but his other half stopped him.

Mr. Cha's booming voice can be heard at the four corners of their living room. "Tell us who is the father of your child?!"

"I can't believe you slept with a man without getting married first, Eunmi! Haven't I taught you enough?" followed by the disappointed voice of Mrs. Cha.

Eunmi who is between Hemi and Sonbi, can only cry silently. "She already told you Auntie, Uncle, she cannot remember because she was drunk." Hemi reasoned out. They did not bother to elaborate on the details for they felt also partly to be blamed. Afterall, they should be looking out at each other.

As Eunmi has decided, she kept her mouth shut as she wants to solve this on her own first. She can't blame her parents for acting this way, they always saw her as a filial one.

Mr. Cha is still not convinced. "I thought you're all looking out after each other, how could this have happened?!" Then by Mrs. Cha's, "I have high hopes from you, Eunmi. What would people say about you? I don't think I could bear people looking down at my precious daughter." she was now crying as well, which made Eunmi cry harder.

"That's enough, Uncle, Auntie!" rescued Jongdae, who cannot stand the chaos anymore. "I'll marry Eunmi to avoid people gossiping!"

Everybody went silent. Eunmi stopped crying but just looked at Jongdae, who appeared surprise at his own daring. She can never imagine him to be this chivalrous.

Hemi and Sonbi looked at each other.

Jongdae just wanted them to stop as he saw Eunmi crying so hard, worried it will affect her baby.

After a few moments of silence, Mr. Cha recovered first, "Are you sure about this, Jongdae-ah? I do not want you to sacrifice yourself just to save our family from disgrace."

Jongdae's face showed hesitation for a few seconds but then nodded.

Eunmi cannot see herself being married to his good friend. Though Jongdae is not lacking in terms of looks and financial abilities, she never, ever thought of him as a husband. It is actually giving her goosebumps. It will be like marrying her brother or cousin. She knew he is going out with Gayeong, so what gives?

But what choice does she has? Eunmi's eyes were boring into Jongdae's, sending her silent gratitude. She knew her parents will never stop criticizing her if she bore her baby on her own. At least if she is married to Jongdae, their parents' lifelong dream will be fulfilled, and they will get off her back.

Although, she's not so sure about the arrangement yet but definitely she will set some if they are really going to be wed in order for Jongdae to continue to have his freedom when time comes. She knows she will forever be indebted to her good friend.

But isn't she rushing too much on her thoughts? Is she ready for that?

Then out of nowhere Kyungsoo appeared followed by Jongin and Yeol.

"NO, HE CAN'T! If there is more suitable man to marry Eunmi, that would be me! Because I am the father of her child."
