CHAPTER 46

"What do you mean-" Eunmi stopped asking midway once she heard her name being announced by someone, who she recognized as Jongdae, when the door was fully opened. Her brother softly tugged at her to step inside.

The hall erupted into applause with photographers catching every scene like paparazzi. Eunmi couldn't react, surprise was an understatement. She looked at her smiling brother who hugged and softly patted her on the back then released her and handed her to Kyungsoo who was dashingly standing right in front of them. Her brother patted Kyungsoo on the back too before joining the others in clapping.

Kyungsoo took her hand and kissed her on the cheek whilst whispering, "Surprise! Honey, this is our engagement party!" grinning at her, he ushered Eunmi to the front stage.

Eunmi on the other hand was still shocked, but eventually plastered a smile on her face. So this is the reason why everybody were acting strange today!

She scanned the small banquet hall, which was relatively big enough to hold the people present to celebrate the significant event in her and Kyungsoo's lives. More or less, there were around fifty guests present, not including the hotel staff, videographers and photographers. She could see her parents, their bestfriends and their parents, her cousin Sehun, some close friends, even her boss and a handful of prominent businessmen all smiling and congratulating them as Kyungsoo guided her to walk forward, hand in hand.

Eunmi leaned a bit forward to Kyungsoo, "Did you all set me up?! I can't believe it! I should be part of the planning since I'm the one getting engaged! I think I'm the only one in the world who experienced a surprise engagement party!" she hissed to Kyungsoo but kept the smile on her face. People looking at them thought they're whispering sweet nothings to each other.

Kyungsoo looked at her beaming, "Exactly! You don't know how much I missed you the entire day but I don't want you to get tired. By the way, you look so lovely."

Eunmi glared at him for a few seconds with her face turning pink at his compliment, nevertheless she wasn't able to hide her smile before saying, "We're so going to talk about this later!" then roamed her eyes at their surrounding amidst the clapping people.

Actually, she is thrilled and high at the moment. Her eyes were twinkling with happiness. She thought it was rather sweet of Kyungsoo to be in cahoots with everybody else, even her parents and brother, to make their engagement formal. She only concluded Kyungsoo is really serious about marrying her, pregnant or not.

Scanning the entire crowd, they were all looking happily at them and she felt better knowing only close friends and family were present. Her boss must be shocked to know about them being together for she never once told him she is going out with someone. She wonders how is she going to tell him when she is back at work.

Not that she doesn't want the whole world to know that she is engaged to the #1 elusive bachelor of the country, she liked it to be kept private without the media and public speculating about them. Because of Kyungsoo's status, she knew she will be a degrading target of the media and the public eye, especially once they knew her real condition. Another topic added to the lists they have to discuss.

As they walk towards the front, she saw at the center of the small stage a large tarpaulin with their names, the event and the date written on it. Under the banner was a small, decorated table with a delectable and beautiful slanted three-layered, autumn colored marzipan cake perched above. The cake was intricately decorated with maple leaves on its branches and pinkish lily flowers, which are her favourites. On the topmost layer of the cake was an opened velvety-like box complete with a pale yellowy diamond ring inside it. She was thinking if the whole box and ring were real or can be eaten as well for the cake's design was elaborate. Then she noticed Dolcetta's name written at the side bottom of the cake's base concluding it is what Sonbi was busy making in the morning when she called her, now she gets it.
