Chapter 56

CHAPTER 56

Sonbi and Yeol were in the Security Room of Marriott Hotel with Yeol's friend, Lay, who is the hotel's general manager. They were looking at the CCTV footages on the night of Hemi's bridal shower.

They managed to see the clips from when Eunmi and Sonbi arrived at the hotel, when Eunmi left and came back again, Hemi's arrival with Yeol, to the bridal shower party, when they stayed at the hotel's bar, until Eunmi went up and entered a room.

Sonbi and Yeol watched the CCTV footage of Eunmi emerging out of the elevator whilst Yeol was half-dragging a drunk Sonbi into a room few meters away. They watched Eunmi tripped, picked up her shoes, leaned on the wall then entered the room next to the room where Yeol left Hemi.

"We are right, Eunmi indeed entered a wrong room!" blurted Sonbi whilst she continued watching on the clip.

Then suddenly the clip seemed to jump to the next day with the frame showing one housekeeping staff entering the room to clean. This was already past 12 in the afternoon of the next day.

"Wait, where is the rest of the clip?" Sonbi asked.

Even Lay seemed baffled. He tried rewinding and forwarding but it showed the same video they have previously watched. He then called the head security to find out what had happened.

"Do you think somebody must have erased some parts of the video?" Sonbi whispered to Yeol.

"I am not sure but let's wait first." answered Yeol.

After a few minutes, Lay hung up the phone frowning and revealed what he has learned to the two.

"The top management have ordered our head of security to delete some CCTV footages as instructed. This is also made in secret as I was not informed about this at all. I am pretty sure somebody has a copy of it somewhere however he does not want to tell me who for fear of losing his job. I also don't think I will be able to know or get it, which is why I was not told about this. The clearance for that must be above my pay grade." explained by Lay in great detail.

"How about the footages of the room before our friend entered?" Yeol asked.

Lay checked the clips as suggested. Again similar to the previous video, it also seemed some clips were deleted. It is the same when they checked the lift's CCTV.

"What to do now?" Sonbi said weakly.

"Are there any CCTV frames that we can check in other areas of the hotel even though short but will lead to the room or to the lifts before or around the time our friend entered that room?" Yeol asked his friend.

"Let's see." Lay answered.

Lay took some time before pointing to Yeol and Sonbi. There are numerous CCTVs located in the hotel because it was huge. It will take them days to look at all the CCTVs. Finally, he managed to isolate three other different CCTV angles that are short range. He checked this first and pointed this to them explaining those may not give them definitive affirmation of what evidence they are looking for.

The three are very focused, quietly looking at the respective CCTV frames, fast forwarding or going backwards for couple of hours at a time.

"Oh, that's Kyungsoo-ah." said Yeol as a matter of fact.

"What?!" Sonbi said surprised. She looked at the frame Yeol was checking.

"Remember I told you before this is where I have first met him." Yeol said.

"I remembered but you did not say it was on the day of Hemi's bridal shower!" Sonbi hissed.

"It was actually the next morning when he bumped into me at the elevator." Yeol defended.

"Sshh! I'm thinking..." then suddenly Sonbi snapped her fingers, "Aha! He must be the culprit!"

Yeol was frowning at what she said but then his eyes bulged at the realisation.

"I still remembered that day, I bumped into Kyungsoo in the same floor where we were staying, that was in the morning!"

"I think you found out what you were looking for?" deduced Lay.

To be sure, both Yeol and Sonbi checked the footage again. Kyungsoo was donned in a suit in this instance, they assumed this was the time during Hemi's bridal shower.

Lay explained that the CCTV frame is from the conferences suites. He also showed them the short footage where he saw Kyungsoo in the frame he was checking. This frame was located at the other far end of the corridor on the floor where they all stayed that night. It was only a brief moment and they did not see the room he entered into.

The footages they all saw with Kyungsoo showing into them were not really the 'smoking gun' both Yeol and Sonbi are looking for. Kyungsoo's appearances are only circumstantial.

Sonbi then asked if they can see the guest list during that night on who stayed in the room where Eunmi entered.

Unfortunately, similar to the CCTV footages that were deleted, the guest list on that night was not available when Lay checked.

Again, the two were disappointed however Lay asked if anything were ordered as he might be able to see billing charges for it.

Sonbi said about breakfast trolley. Lay then typed something into the system and clicked a few folders. Afterwards, he showed them the screen.

There were gym access, laundry service, breakfast room service, helipad access, etc. listed on the screen but at the top of the page where 'Charged To' section was, it read:

Do KS
Room 843

Sonbi and Yeol looked at each other and stood up, both looking gobsmacked.

There was no denying it, Do Kyungsoo is the person who slept with Eunmi in the room she entered at that time!
