With pandemic widespread, due to the recent outbreak of the infectious disease 'Covid-19' aka Coronavirus, the world came to a standstill and there was chaos everywhere. Morality rate was at a peak due to the widespread of infection. The year 2020 took a drastic toll on human kind and there was a major change in the lifestyle. Covid- 19 disease has had its own advantages and disadvantages to the universe.

A lot of business entities and industrial sectors were affected by Covid-19. The air quality improved due to inactivity of social and economic activities, there was a sudden spread and awareness about cleanliness and social distancing. Face coverings and shields were made a mandatory requirement to step out in public. The significant impact was that there was lockdown and quarantine implemented during the epidemic. There was a ban for any kind of travel, especially the international travel ban, this impacted tourists, locals visiting their near and dear ones, business officials and celebrities.

The major impact was for the educators and children going to schools, colleges and institutions. With lockdown being implemented, children and teenagers weren't allowed to go to schools and colleges like a normal day, employees and workers weren't allowed to go out and perform their duties. This hampered the economic growth and stability of the world.
The educational institutions came up with various techniques to continue providing education to the children and teenagers during pandemic. They came up with a term called 'distance learning'. This wasn't a new technique that the world didn't know about, but introducing this type of learning to the young children who were totally new to this technique was a challenge to the education industry. Both in India and abroad, distance education flourished and provoked a requirement for technology and technological upgradation to provide user friendly and continuous access to provide education. Numerous multinational companies came up with a software and application services to provide online education to the end user through audio and video conference calling applications.

These kinds of services are not only user friendly, but they are also convenient to provide education to the children without having to move from a place to another. Application services like Zoom video communications Inc, Google meet developed by Google, Cisco WebEx, acts as a platform to connect the provider and receiver effective and efficient services during their requirement. The virtual education and online- learning is still in place due to the epidemic and children are still learning staying at home. This system of education has its own effects on children, also has advantages too.
Some of the advantages of online education:

Parents- Children bonding

With pandemic and stay-at-home order in place by the Government of various countries, schools and educational institution had to continue providing education to Children for the betterment and prosperity towards learning and development. With the help of audio and video conferencing services, this was made possible. With the stay-at-home order in place, many of the companies and business entities started the work-from-home as an option for their employees. This allowed the children spend more time with their parents and bond with them.

Focus on Children's health

With stay-at-home order in effect, Mothers cooked homemade food for their children and family, also the children get to eat their breakfast, lunch and dinner on time. Since parents work from at home during the lockdown, they are also able to focus on healthy eating and avoid junk foods from street. Also, they are able to monitor their children's eating habits.

Focus on children's education

Parents are able to monitor their children's progress towards education. With lockdown in effect, since the educational institutions have arranged home-schooling, one of the parents have to be seated with their children to help them with classes and syllabus. This is an advantage for the parents to observe closely the progress in their children's education and where they stand with their intellectual process.

Now comes some of the drawbacks of Online education:

Eye strain and other health issues

Due to continuously looking into the digital devices, children are exhausted, tired and their eyesight is impaired. The blue light and white light emitted by the computer screen can cause blurry vision and also headache in children, many parents have raised complaints about the long- hours seating in front of the computer screen for virtual schooling. Children also face other health issues like poor body postures like rounded shoulders and back, muscle fatigue and body aches.

Lack of physical activities

Since children are at home 24/7, their screen time has increased either for home-schooling or for watching entertainment videos on YouTube, Google, Netflix or Disney channels. They are not interested to go out and get an exposure to the fresh air and hence there's no physical activity involved too. This hinders the physical development in children and they lack playing outdoor games.

No peer interaction

With online Education in place, children are forced to sit in one place at home and they miss interacting with their friends at school and outside. They also miss their classroom education and fun activities with their Teacher and co-students. Due to Covid-19, meeting and greeting people outside of the family members was completely banned and this prevented children from interacting with other children and so children have become very much attached to their parents, in turn becoming impatient, restless and adamant.

Lack of availability of Internet facility

This is the foremost drawback and one of the challenges faces by certain families, especially in rural India, with poor to no Internet facility available, and also electronic devices like Tablet, phone, laptop or computer, parents are unable to co-operate with schools to provide online- learning for their children. Due to this situation, many children are not able to receive education from home.
Online learning has brought numerous changes in the lifestyle of both children and their parents, looking at the current scenario, online- learning has both advantages and disadvantages.

In times of this epidemic, to control the widespread of the deadly disease, Government of all the countries in the World came up with a lot of measures to keep their countries safe and sound.
