Mythology - An Upcoming Trend♠️
Written by - that-urban-girl

“I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?”
― John Lennon

Ever heard about Thor? About Ares and Aphrodite? About Amazons? About the lost city of Atlantis? About the Greek Deities? The adventures of Norse Heroes? Anubis? The journey of Shiva to become Mahadev? The avatars of Vishnu? May be about the fairies, banshees, mermaids, giants, gnomes, elves, dragons, kapas, apsaras, werewolves and this list is long dear!

But the main question is how did you learn about them? By reading tablets of Gilgamesh or Vedic Scriptures or hieroglyphs? Neither one I guess? Moreover how many of us have read the epics of the world? We, all of us, even me, have listened to short stories, folklores or simply the alternate universe created by minds like Rick Riordan, Stan Lee, J. K. Rowling, Amish Tripathi etc.

Without them, how many people would have read or even noticed these mysteries of histories? They in a sense can be approached as ‘saviour of mythologies’. The way they bring it up, giving the Gen Z what they want and hence create an aura of their own to such an extent that today people pity who haven’t read them.

There are many movies and books which owe so much of their inspiration to mythology and could not have existed without the ancient myths or without drawing elements from mythology. The significance of mythology and its ability to give rise to important material for thought not only applies in the reel world but is also reflected in far more revolutionary contexts than this.

“I liked myths. They weren't adult stories and they weren't children's stories. They were better than that. They just were.”
― Neil GaimanThe Ocean at the End of the Lane

And this is, of course, important ― the upbringing of the lost mythology. What is a man without his roots deep down to the culture? In the futuristic tradition of ideas, philosophy is the system of thoughts and questions that relate to how we view ourselves and that shape our existential outlook on life.

At the same time, philosophy has its origins in antiquity, whose hub was mythologies of the world, which formed the cradle of civilisation and the life we lead, and with that establish the basis on how our modern society has been formed.

Mythology sets examples which help us to learn lessons and avoid a similar fate. They provided a message of wisdom to carry with us before facing our considerations and values in life. After all, we should not forget that history repeats itself.

The portrayal of one myth, in particular, stands out among all the others when it comes to our most pivotal modern issue. The power of the myths lies in their symbolism, which not only helped to knock the origins of modern story-telling into shape but also regulated the most tone-setting stories of the popular culture.

The mythology we neglect today is the ground on which today’s metropolised world stands high. Be it for the trend or moral ethic, if in this way the mythology lives… then let it be.

The Value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity.”
