Men aren't supposed to be weak
written by - dishatripathi7

" Men aren't supposed to be weak. "

Since when we have been hearing this? Probably since our childhood. Men have always been defined as strong, rigid, tough, self-reliant and by a plethora of other adjectives. In short, if they cry it directly gets judged on their masculinity.

"Don't cry like a girl"

"Big boys like you don't cry"

"Stop crying and be a man!"

Does That Mean Men Don't Have Feelings?

We, as a society, are so obsessed with the idea of the alpha man that we forget crying is perfectly human and it has got nothing to do with gender. The ability to mask soft emotions is often spoken of as "natural" for men. Using the word "natural" is as misleading as the claim that Patanjali's processed noodles have "natural ingredients".

Men aren't some super-heroes with lifetime emotions handling power gifted to them or is it? You can't cry while watching a movie, Okay. You can't cry after your break-up, Okay. You can't cry when you feel like giving up, Okay. But why can't they? and Who are you to tell them that?

Why for once, can't we say a simple thing to them,

" Boy! Cry your heart out, World is too difficult so don't make it more unbearable, Okay! " Now I guess it was a hard or non-bearable thing to do or apply! Right?

" Bachchpan main jab rona aata hai, toh bade bolte hai aasun pocho. Jab gussa aata hai, toh bade kehte hai smile taaki ghar ki shanti bani rahe. Nafrat karna chahe, toh ijazat nahi di. Aur jab pyaar karna chahe, toh pata chala ye saala emotional system hi gadbada gaya, kaam nahi kar raha, cannot function. Rona, gussa, nafrat kuch bhi khul ke express nahi karne diya. Ab pyaar kaise express kare?"

Remember Jug? He didn't tell this just to Kaira but to everyone and I mean everyone. our life is already tough and trust me it's more hard in the upcoming time, No matter how much hard you try to strive on. you need to let your heart out or else instead of your dream job interview council; You'll soon find yourself sitting in front of your personal Jug!

" Real Men do Cry! " because we don't need those Alpha males anymore, but someone who knows how it feels when you're hurt and damaged and I promise we'll never judge you at any point, I cry I accept so why your tears will make any difference for anyone! they're also salty water needed to be out so that we can see that smile on your smile. The real smile.

So, My dear Boys! I am sorry we are wrong and I understand but now let's stop this. Alright?

So cry. Cry when you are in physical pain. Cry when you lose someone you loved dearly. Cry if something breaks your heart. Cry if someone's pain hurts you too. Cry if talking about something makes you feel too much. Cry even if your brain (and the society) tells you not to. Cry, grieve, sob and heal. Do whatever it takes to get those emotions out of your heart but at no cost swallow them in.

So cry. Cry when you know that the world is headed, cry when you think about the refugee crisis, cry when you stub your foot on the bedside table, cry when you're trying not to, because it's important to step toward fighting or recognizing emotional repression. And the next time you're in a theater, don't forget to look left or right. If you spot me next to you with a pack of sodden tissues, join me. We'll drown our sorrows over butter popcorn and perhaps a bottle of coke right after. Promise!

Now, Are you a Real Man?
