♠️Baseless Intolerance For Bollywood Films♠️
Written by- Bright_being
Not here to hurt your sentiments, but just wanted to present my point of view...
A Film also known as a movie or a motion picture is a story or event recorded by a camera as a set of moving images and shown in a cinema or on television.
Films are mostly made for the purpose of entertainment, while some of the films even inspire us , some give us knowledge, but what causes problems is that some people/organisations despise films even without knowing its full content, such cases of intolerance are known as Baseless Intolerance.
Here presenting a few Bollywood films which had to face such controversies.
1.Padmaavat
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film , had to face opposition from The Shri Rajput Karni Sena, which led to many fights. According to the organisation, the film was showing queen Padmavati in wrong light. They also stated that the film had scenes showcasing the illicit romance between the queen and the Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji. This resulted in much violence. The director of the film was attacked, while Deepika Padukon received threats.
On January 24, a shocking video was circulated in India, it was a clip of terrified school children, ducking inside their school bus, whose glass windows had been shattered. The bus, ferrying children in Gurugram, the uber-rich satellite township close to the country’s capital, had been attacked by supporters of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, as they protested the release of the movie Padmaavat (erstwhile Padmavati).
But after the release of the film, all the rumors were declared wrong as the film did not showcase any kind of scene which showed the queen wrong. Thus, the proclaims made by the organisations were proved wrong.
2.PK
The Rajkumar Hirani directed film had come in controversies when it was termed as "anti-Hindu" for its satirical take on Gods and Goddesses, blind faith, customs and rituals. Several theaters were damaged by various organisations (not particularly any) and they demanded a boycott of the film for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Suprisingly, the film became one of the biggest hits of Indian Cinema.
3.Laxmi ( formerly known as 'Laxmi Bomb')
The Akshay Kumar starrrer film, directed by Raghava Lawrence, has been subjected to controversy ever since the trailer was dropped. While some accused it of promoting “love jihad”, others found the title of the film derogatory and offensive. Sadly, the bullies have won and the movie Laxmmi Bomb has been renamed Laxmmi.
A report states that the legal notice was sent by advocate Raghavendra Mehrotra, on behalf of Shri Rajput Karni Sena accusing the makers of “deliberately” using the title “Laxmmi Bomb” with the intention of lowering the “dignity” and to “disrespect” the goddess. Allegedly the title of the film sends out the wrong message to society towards the “ideology, customs, gods and goddesses of Hindu religion”.
These were the few controversies, I wanted to bring out. Now, I just want to ask ,what do we get by fighting for the facts which are unchecked.
In the first case without having access to the script , how can you just say that the film had potrayed wrong image of the queen.
In the second case, it was the film's purpose to bring out the difference between faith and blind faith and the organisations said that the purpose was only wrong.
In the third case, the film's title was related to the film's content, without seeing the film how can you say that the title is allegedly wrong.
If the facts are checked then you are allowed to present your views against a film, but in a peaceful way
