Romanticism In The Modern World♠️
Written by - that-urban-girl

Freedom is the dream you dream while putting thoughts in the chains again…”
― Giacomo Leopardi, Canti

In the late 18th century, when the world was undergoing Industrial Revolution a part of the European society took part in it, not with swords or machines but with pens which consisted more of strong visual arts, music, and literature and had a complex effect on the political upbringing as these people made liberalism, conservatism, radicalism and nationalism their weapons

As diverse was the thinking or philosophies of that era, the more diverse was the work brought up by them. Every artist took it differently. This Romanticism was developed in two different type ― the British Romanticism and American Romanticism. Both of them have different characteristics that maybe because of the different histories and the nature of the society they underwent at that time.

The British romanticists wanted to relocate the highly rational, academic thinkers of the Enlightenment, offering an overridden view of the world. Writers like Blake, Wordsworth, Shelley, and Byron wanted to foreground the power of the imagination, the beauty and sublimity of the natural world, and the wisdom of classical cultures.

They wanted to mingle nature with classics and hence giving birth to British Romanticism that marked a turn towards subjectivism, as well as perseverance to older aesthetics ― both medieval and classical.

Whereas the United States was young and devoid of the history on which change can be brought up. The country was a growing country, experiencing a period of unbridled growth with new possibilities. American writers were seeking for a unique form of literature and the Romantic Movement allowed for such a development.

This Romantic Movement was first originated in Germany and had reached England, France etc. European countries and to America roughly during 1820. But the main vision of both American and British Romanticism was a fresh new visualization by the exhilarated, inventive and intellectual groups.

But Modern Romanticism or Romanticism in the Modern World is the development of the writing in the mid-1900s and henceforth continuing. This post-war movement that we have brought up to reignite the love and passion for the utopic world of euphoria and optimism.

But what is the result or effect of this revolution in Generation Z?

This is the era where love knows no bounds and is un-discriminated on the grounds of anything and everything and lays emphasis on emotion, feelings, intuition, passion, sublimity, individualism, independent-ness, nostalgia, childhood, optimism, idealism, divinity, fantasy, mythology, folklore, potentiality, equality to note a few.

Some of the best examples of the Modern Romanticism is Beauty and the Beast, Harry Potter Series, The Hunger Games Series etc.

Romanticism gave rise to utopian experiments, to utopian socialism, and fascism through its emphasis upon hero worship and martial glory. Today, we accept our weirdness even when society turns back. Today, we are free to reciprocate our views without fear because we know that tomorrow it would be accepted. Today, every individual holds their head high for they have an imagination unique and untouchable.

Some people call me sick and twisted. I feel that I'm neither; I am instead a Romantic.”
