♠Cotard's syndrome♠
By- Miss_Miracle1410Now as you read the title, if your mind goes in medical conditions then you are almost there but here's the interesting fact here. This syndrome is also known as the walking dead syndrome. In simple terms the person with this syndrome becomes a live zombie! Scary isn't it?
People with Cotard's syndrome believe that parts of their body are missing,or that they are dying, dead or don't exist. They might think nothing exists, talk about living in fantasy bubble to an obsessive level. In very rare cases, you might find a patient clinging desperately to a tombstone in a spooky graveyard!
Cotard's syndrome is rare, with only about 200 known cases till date. Another reason why you might haven't heard about it. But even though these symptoms might seem extreme they can be cured with better treatment.
If in this lifetime you ever come across someone with this syndrome it's better to know everything about it. So, let's talk about the symptoms...
People become antisocial like completely stop speaking or hallucinate and hear voices saying that they are dead or dying. Other refuse to eat because for obvious reasons they think dead people don't need to eat. Some also try to harm themselves.
As for the cause, it's not clear what affects the brain for the patient to become like this but experts think that Cotard's syndrome results from two types of brain damage. The first changes the way people view themselves. The second makes them continue to believe this false view, even when they're shown it's not true. It mostly happens to people who suffer from depression, anxiety, schizophrenia or substance abuse.
This is a very rare kind of suicide. I'm sure not many of you haven't heard of but it's still a mental illness and people should be made aware of this.
Walking zombies might sound fun in movies but not in reality. These people need to be handled with extra care as they are too sensitive to anything they hear or see.
I hope y'all like my attempt in giving you an I sight on Cotard's syndrome or the walking dead syndrome.
Love and hugs.
