"Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others."
- BRENÉ BROWN

"Love Yourself" is a topic of concern for many but do those many know the real meaning of these words?

It's not always associated with broken friendships or failed relationships. It's not always about loving that one person and losing yourself.
It's about giving yourself in order to make the world happy.

Let's be honest, if you cannot love yourself how can you embrace the love of any other person?

We all are likely to feel unworthy. There are times when you don't feel lovable. This is normal and we all experience those moments. But self-acceptance is the foundation to living a complete life when you show up with your whole self.

"Love yourself. Forgive Yourself. Be true to yourself. How you treat yourself sets the standard for how others treat you."
- STEVE MARABOLI

Clinical neuropsychologist MARIO MARTINEZ says in The MindBody Code,
"I propose that abundance is not sustainable without a strong sense of self-worth. Why not? Because maintaining health, reaching wealth and finding love require the capacity to accept that you are worthy of your good fortune."

Your story of unworthiness is a tale assumed from others and reinforced over time, although this is not who you are.

It is a repeated affirmation and a conceived narrative. You are no more unworthy than I am Black Widow or Iron Man. Sure, I might daydream about having a high-tech suit or widow like physical strength and powers, but when I return to reality, I am just a girl with insecurities and challenges like anyone else.

Nonetheless, I don't feed those doubts because I know what I give life to, whether positive or negative, gains power. I don't allow my challenges to overcome me but use them to reinforce my authentic power.

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."
- RUMI

Stanford psychologist, SHIRZAD CHAMINE explains in his book ' Positive Intelligence' that we adopt ten saboterna or internal enemies. One voice is The Judge, whose opinion is often mistaken for tough love. It continually finds fault within yourself through a self-justifying lie,
"The judge's most damaging lie is that we are not worthy of love our respect by just being who we are."

In a similar vein, BTS' leader RM or Kim Namjoon said,
"When you want others to love you,you must learn to love yourself first."
In one of their songs (I M Fine) from the album 'Love Yourself: Answer'; BTS says
"I know I am more mine, mine, mine; cuz I am just Fine."
We just have to remember that "I AM MINE AND NO ONE ELSE'S."

The message imparted by this album is very clear.

It brings us back full-circle to the story title.
When you strip away the stories about who you think you are, underneath it you'll uncover your authentic self, which at its essence is pure love.

Self-love pushes you to take care of your own needs.
You will learn to give to yourself and in doing so, you will develop into the person you strive to be. You will celebrate the beauty and freedom of being true to you and you will gain a solidified sense of who you truly are.

So make it a practice to meet with yourself in the mirror on a daily basis and say
"I forgive myself, I believe in myself, I love myself", so you can love and accept the person reflected back at you.

After all, when you love yourself first, life will undoubtedly take care of the rest.
LIVE FOR YOURSELF. LOVE YOURSELF.
