I watch in horror as my sister pushes herself manically around the room, shrieking with laughter as she does so, mother doesn't seem anywhere near as drunk, Glinda looks so terribly concerned.
"Oh darling I'm so sorry," mother whispers to me "I had no idea, I didn't think."
"Bocs going to be back soon" Glinda exclaims.
"Get her into bed, we await the worst." I mumble, trying to stay calm.
"I'm not going to bed!" Nessa cries, "can't make me."
I hate this, she seems all happy now but soon she's going to be in so much pain.
I watch my sister begin to panic as Glinda approaches her to attempt to place her into a bed.
As Glinda gets too close, Nessa shoves her away and shrieks with laughter once more.
"I'm not going to bed, I don't want to, I won't let you trap me."
Mother takes a step towards my sister and holds out her hands,
"Mother!" Nessa exclaims grinning wildly "another drink please!"
Mother sakes her head and looks at me sadly.
Nessas face turns to me,
"You bitch!" She cries "go away! Your no fun."
I ignore my sisters harshness and scoop her up into my arms as she thrashes to get out of my grasp.
Gently, I lay her down on her bed, where her manic laughter resumes.

"Mother, go and get your daughter a glass of water," I snap, mother shakes her head and steps towards Nessa, Glinda runs off to retrieve the water.
"Elphie" my sister coos "you look so grumpy!" She giggles.
Moments later, Glinda returns with a glass of water that Nessa drinks without a fight but soon Boc entered the room.
"Nessa!" He cries.
"Hi beautiful!" Nessa chuckles.
Boc looks at me, looking terribly confused.
"She's drunk, Boc." Glinda whispers shakily.
"Nessas allowed to drink?"
"No and it's all my fault" mother sobs.
"Oh will you just shut up crying!" Nessa snickers.

After a few moments, Albert appears in the doorway, Nessa smiles strangely when she sees him.
"Hello Elphabas real father!" Nessa sighs "the drink is great"
Mother clings onto Albert, muffling her cries.
Boc crouches down beside Nessarose and looks at her sadly.
"Hi Nessie," Boc croaks.
"Don't call me that, I'm not a child" Nessa scowls but she soon perks up again, "Boc I want to feel like this all the time!"
Boc sighs and places his hand on the side of my sisters face, Nessa holds his hand for a moment before she looks straight up at the ceiling.
"This is so much better than feeling crappy all the time, I'm sick of being sad. It's exhausting" Nessa exclaims "I feel as if I could fly, would you fly with me Boc?"
Boc smiles softly,
"I'd do anything with you Nessarose."

After what seemed like hours of Nessa roaring with laughter and spewing vicious insulates at Albert and me, she finally fell asleep.
Mother had to leave the room, she's downstairs but we can still hear her crying so she may as well not have left.
"Elphaba," Glinda mumbles, stepping beside me and pulling me away from my sister for a moment "is she going to be okay?"
I shrug,
"I don't know." I reply honestly "she was never allowed to drink at the family parties and it had nothing to do with her age"
Nessa stirs in her sleep and Boc begins to cry,
"Oh Boc, don't worry so!" Glinda cries, rushing over to console him.
But he's right, she should be worried, we all should be worried.
"Nessa said she was so fed up with feeling sad," Boc sighs "and it's true, I can see it, I can see the absence of joy in her eyes."
"Boc can I be honest." I say solemnly.
Boc nods and scrubs at his eyes.
"I hate you." I say suddenly "I hate you because you seem to make my sister happier than I ever could and it's infuriating, I spent so much of my time worried about her and trying to keep her happy and you do it by simply being near her."
Boc smiles at me, gets up, and hugs me for a moment, before stepping back to look at my sister again.
I walk over to the arm chair in the corner of the room and sit myself down, watching my sister from afar.
"Elphaba, you alright?" Glinda asks me politely.
I nod my head quickly and continue to watch my sister, knowing that people who have been drinking excessively will sleep for ages.
But it has been ages, it's been more than ages and she still hasn't woken up.

I'm absolutely furious with our mother, I'm sat downstairs whilst she cries into Alberts welcoming arms.
How dare he console her after how careless she's been.
"Oh Elphaba." Mother sobs "I'm sorry."
I shake my head.
"What's the point in apologising to me?" I ask angrily, Albert looks at me, his mouth open wide.
"Elphaba let your mother have a break, she's sorry, what more can she do?"
"Your no better" I bark at Albert "kept on supplying Mother with drinks for Nessa!"
"Now that's enough!" Mother shrieks, no longer crying, she leaps from her chair and meets me at eye level.
"You have every right to be angry with me because I made a mistake." Mother bellows, her face contorted with rage "but you have no right to raise your voice to your mother and treat me like I'm a madwoman so tried to poison her own daughter!" Mother stops, all of a sudden she drops to the floor and screams with sorrow.
"I've done it again!" Mother cries.
"Melena?" Albert stares at her sorrowfully.
"My poor baby, I've poisoned her again." Mother sobs "I'm a horrible mother, I've hurt her, I can't every stop hurting her."
Mother sits and cries for the longest time, until the early hours of the morning, when I hear a loud bang come from the spare room that Nessas inside.
