Benefits (Fluff)

It all started out so casual.

The first time Y/N had sex with Andrew, they had drunkenly hung out together with their huge L.A. friend group at a local bar in West Hollywood. After tossing back more drinks than either was used to, they had stumbled into an Uber together and ended up at Andrew's apartment. Y/N hadn't slept with anyone since she'd broken up with her ex-boyfriend Dominic. He'd cheated on her after telling her she was the one, and Y/N had spent the last 6 months completely closed off from love and relationships.

Of course, she had needs though. She was in a definite drought when it came to sex, and it wasn't too hard to see why. Since the dust-up with Dominic, she hadn't been able to even consider the possibility of going on a date with a guy who was genuinely interested in her. On the other hand, she couldn't just hook up with a stranger. She couldn't trust random guys. Her status as a You Tube beauty guru made her too recognizable to take the chance of casual sex with random Hollywood types. What if they talked about her online? No, she couldn't risk it.

That made Andrew just about the perfect candidate. Y/N had known him for the better part of five years, as they'd been members of the same raucous Hollywood friend group since they'd lived in California. She knew Andrew, of course, and he was trustworthy. He was so quiet, introverted and private himself that she didn't have to worry about him ever mentioning her name to anyone. But they weren't that close. He was just a random guy in the group who had at one point dated a girl who was a friend of a friend. Hell, Y/N didn't even like his ex, and his ex didn't even hang out in the group anymore. They were friends, but not close friends. And it didn't hurt that Andrew was the hottest guy in the group, Y/N a total sucker for his soft brown eyes, crazy mop of orange hair and his ridiculously cute smile.

Andrew was game as well, as his general outlook on relationships always got in his way of pursuing girls for more than a casual night of harmless fun. He had long had trouble committing, particularly after his break up with his notorious ex had left him insecure and emotionally unavailable. He didn't think he was a fully-formed person, and he certainly couldn't imagine taking on the responsibility of some poor unsuspecting girl's emotions when he could barely handle his own. He'd even discussed his cynical outlook on love on his podcast with Garrett as the Sweet Boys discussed the reasons they were single. Andrew knew why he was. He wasn't comfortable enough with himself. There was no way he could be comfortable as someone's boyfriend.

That being said, he thought Y/N was ridiculously hot. So hot that it made him nervous. He really hadn't ever given her much thought in their years in the friend group, except for the occasional under-the-breath remarks exchanged between him and some of the other guys about how ridiculously gorgeous she was or how her body kept getting hotter as she got farther and farther from her ex-boyfriend Dominic. Andrew had thought Dominic was a jackass anyway. He didn't deserve Y/N's perfect flawless face or even more flawless body. Andrew didn't know much about her, to be honest. But he knew this much. She was way out of his league.

But that one night, she seemed into him. Or at least, into hooking up, which was what Andrew was into too as he tossed back glasses of Jack Daniels like it was water while she took shots of vodka straight from a bottle purchased by their mutual friends Heath and Zane. The more they drank, the better each looked to the other until they were stumbling out of the Uber and into Andrew's apartment that he moved into after his fallout with Shane. He didn't have a roommate anymore, as he'd turned 28 and decided he was too old to live with his friends like overgrown fraternity boys. He silently thanked himself for living alone as he and Y/N stumbled through his front door as they made out furiously, hands everywhere. They barely made it into the living room before they were tearing each other's clothes off, and Andrew wasn't exactly clear on the details, only recalling how he'd picked Y/N up with her legs wrapped around his waist and carried her tiny body into his bedroom as she giggled away, the sound of her music to his ears.

After what was a shockingly good round of sex for a one-night stand, the two friends laid side-by-side on their backs, staring at the ceiling before Andrew cleared his throat and looked carefully to his side to eye Y/N. She eyed him back and they both grinned, relief flooding both that they'd somehow managed to turn this drunken night into something productive. They got to chatting and decided that this might be the perfect thing. They could call each other when they were looking for some fun, and it would be harmless and casual. No feelings, so sleeping over, no cuddling and definitely no dating. Just sex. Friends with benefits. It was perfect.

The next time they found themselves in bed together it was Andrew's idea. He'd gone out with a group of rowdy friends to Saddle Ranch, and while he tried to keep the night lowkey, it started to go in the direction of a crazy night with fights, hookups and lots and lots of whiskey. As Andrew watched his friend Zane disappear into the bathroom with a girl he'd been dating and his other friend Cole Uber home with his sometimes girl, Andrew heaved a huge sigh. There were random girls all over the bar, and several had already made their interest in hooking up with him clear, but he had a sinking feeling in his stomach that bedding a random Instagram girl might not be his best move. He sighed to himself, pulling out his phone to Uber home when he thought of his deal with Y/N. He smiled a little to himself, shooting her a quick text and then showing up ten minutes later at her doorstep.

She laughed to herself when she opened the door and found the redhead standing there, rolling her eyes at him as he shot her a devilish grin. She had on gym shorts and an old sorority t-shirt, and while she thought she looked pretty terrible, Andrew couldn't help but think how hot she was with no makeup on, hair tied up in a messy top knot.

"Well, well, well, look who it is," she teased, and he grinned. "Are you going to stand there teasing me or invite me in?" he asked her, and she giggled as she moved aside, letting him walk through the door. As soon as he closed it behind her, he grabbed her, attaching their lips in a heated kiss as she moaned slightly into his mouth.

"Hey to you too," she mumbled against his mouth as he continued to kiss her. "Mmmhmm," he stumbled back, lips trailing to her neck, and she giggled at the feel of it. They slowly walked up the stairs to Y/N's room, lips never parting, and Y/N squealed as Andrew backed her up through the door to her bedroom and onto the bed in a heap, falling on top of her as he let out his famous cackle.

This went on for several weeks, with one or the other always texting to see if they could meet up, and it was pretty casual, up until the tenth time, when all of a sudden, it wasn't.

The tenth time was all Y/N. She'd been invited to the fourth engagement party for a friend that month, and it was starting to get old going to her friends' wedding functions without a date. Of course, she could always ask a guy friend to go along with her. But she didn't want any guys getting the wrong idea. So she sat sullenly next to her friend Monica and Monica's fiancee Keith as they all watched the engaged couple taking pictures next to a huge cake, sneaking kisses between them as everyone wished them good luck and toasted to the happiness they'd found. Y/N sighed a little to herself, forcing a small smile as Monica turned to her with a huge grin, her eyes shining.

"Aren't they so cute and in love?" Monica asked, and Y/N nodded. "Yep, so happy for them," she said softly. "Can you believe that's going to be us in a few months Keith?" she asked, looking at her boyfriend, and Keith threw his arm around his fiancee, kissing her temple over and over. "I really can't baby. I'm the luckiest guy alive!" he cheered, and Monica beamed, looking at Y/N with stars in her eyes. Y/N smiled again, clearing her throat.

"Yep, you're all so lucky to have found each other," Y/N said, her voice cracking, and her friend tilted her head at her. "What's wrong, Y/N? Are you alright?" Monica asked sweetly, and Y/N shook her head a little. "Oh, yeah, I'm OK. Just not feeling my best. I have a headache. Maybe I'll just duck out early," she added, hugging her friend and bidding everyone goodbye as she slinked out the door and into her car to head home.

She got in and glanced at the clock, letting out a huge breath. Every time she went to one of those parties, she had to psych herself up to be "on" and to be excited and happy, and it was frankly exhausting. She paused for a second, thinking it over, and then she took out her phone. She composed a quick text to Andrew, and then she reviewed it, deleting it and retyping it over and over again. Finally, she typed a simple, "Hey you busy?" and sent it with her eyes scrunched together, and he immediately responded back.

"Never too busy for you. Come over."
