"I can't believe I'm actually going to go to an awards show," Shane grumbled to Andrew as the two guys hastily shopped at Neiman Marcus for suits. The red-headed duo spent the majority of their time in sweats, t-shirts and hoodies, and neither felt comfortable in dressed up clothing. But Shane was nominated for YouTuber of the Year, and Ryland was nominated for Vlogger of the Year. Shane had been nominated for awards a ton of times, and he'd even won a few, but he hadn't actually attended an awards show since 2010. His anxiety and general discomfort with leaving his house made attending a stuffy awards show sound about as appealing to him as a root canal. Ryland, on the other hand, had never been nominated for anything, and he wanted to go so badly that he could taste it. When Morgan was invited to present with Ryland, both of the Adams siblings made it their personal mission to convince Shane to attend. Never able to deny his partner, Shane gave in and agreed to fly to New York (combining all of the things he hated) to go to the awards.
Naturally, once Shane had committed to going, he decided to get Andrew on board as well. Shane saw Andrew as the jelly to his peanut butter, the Robin to his Batman, and there was no way he was going to an awards show where he was nominated for a major award without bringing Andrew along. If there was one thing Shane was great about, it was ensuring that Andrew got credit for his hard work and contributions to the channel. Shane got all the recognition, and Andrew was fine with that, but Shane was not. Without Andrew, Shane's channel wouldn't be at its current level, and Shane knew it. So when Ryland cooked up the plan to go to New York for the awards, Shane started campaigning for Andrew to come along, thinking it would be a fun adventure.
As the guys settled on outfits, Shane choosing black slacks and a black Zegna blazer, Andrew picking a basic navy suit that made him look like a Wall Street guy, Shane got a text from Ryland. As Andrew studied himself in the dressing room mirror, almost not believing that Shane had talked him into this, Shane came out to check out his look.
"That looks good Andrew!" Shane gushed to his pal. "Why the fuck are you so handsome? And why the fuck do I look so round in this outfit, it's all black?" Andrew rolled his eyes a bit, always exasperated by Shane's negative self-talk. Andrew scratched his jaw, looking at Shane with a sigh. "Oh, Ryland says he wants Y/N to go to the Shorty's too. He wants to know if I think that's a good idea. I think it would fun if she came too!"
Y/N was Shane's assistant. She'd been working for Shane since he and Andrew finished the Jake Paul series, when it had become apparent to Shane and Ryland that Shane couldn't manage his life while also creating amazing content. Shane hired Y/N on the recommendation of Jason Nash. He knew Jason from when he dated Trisha Paytas, and while Trisha and Jason were no longer together, Shane couldn't lie and say he didn't like Jason. They kept in touch, and Jason knew Andrew as well. Y/N had been Jason's ex-wife's assistant, and he had a soft spot for the 25 year old girl who had taken care of his family while he and Marnie were still married. Shane immediately bonded with Y/N, but it was Ryland who'd become inseparable with the beautiful raven-haired girl. While Shane and Andrew holed up for hours a day editing, Y/N helped Ryland with everything from managing the house to managing his channel, and Ryland counted Y/N among his closest friends.
Andrew cleared his throat a little hearing that Shane and Ryland's gorgeous assistant would be going to New York with them. He had been completely infatuated with the brunette beauty since she'd joined Team Dawson. He thought she was stunningly beautiful, but it wasn't just her looks. She was kind, sweet, and a little bit sassy, never afraid to speak her mind or to put Shane in his place. Andrew thought she was awesome, and he sort of suspected she may be into him too, but neither ever made a move. He immediately liked the idea of her going on the New York trip, though he tried to play it cool. Despite how close Shane and Andrew were, the red-head just wasn't comfortable telling his boss about his crush. He was positive that if he told Shane how he felt about Y/N, Shane would hatch some ridiculous scheme to set them up, leading to complete and total embarrassment.
