Hear Me Out (Fluff)

"Garrett, what the actual FUCK?!?!?!?" Andrew's normally soft-spoken voice reverberated through the entire Culver City townhouse, and then shortly thereafter, Garrett's generally booming tone let out a much softer (and almost to himself), "Shit, he saw it."

"Saw what?" Y/N asked, lifting her head from where it had been buried all morning in her laptop as she sat at the kitchen table in the townhouse, and she eyed her giant of a friend from his perch on Andrew's couch where he'd been watching a Dracula movie marathon for the past few hours.

She'd almost forgotten he was there as she was completely engrossed in the appellate brief she was writing to finish out her second year as a student at USC Law School. But she was reminded of not only Garrett's presence in the house but also that of her red-headed roommate Andrew when he came bounding down the stairs from where he had been editing a short promo spot for one of Garrett's shorter second channel videos.  He took the stairs two-by-two as he rushed downstairs to confront his humongous bestie, his red mop of curls flying around haphazardly, his socked feet making way more noise on the steps than was really necessary.

"Garrett, I'm actually gonna kill you. I know I've said that before, but this time, I mean it," Andrew said, fists clenched by his sides, face red and flushed, and Garrett barely looked up from his spot on the couch as he shrugged nonchalantly.

"What did I do this time?" Garrett asked with a silly grin, and Andrew groaned.

"What's going on?" Y/N asked quietly from her spot at the table. She and Andrew had been roommates for about a year, and while she'd realized during their time as roomies that he wasn't really as quiet or timid as he seemed in his You Tube videos, she wasn't used to him raising his voice or disrupting the quiet and serenity of the townhouse. It was one of the many reasons the two made perfect roommates. They both loved peace and quiet.

"Well, what's going on is that Garrett logged into my Instagram account and posted pictures of me and wrote a caption as me, despite the fact that I've told him 700 times that he can't just hack into my social media. That's not normal friend behavior." Andrew rolled his eyes, glaring at Garrett, and Garrett couldn't help but giggle a little bit.

"And I've told you 700 times that part of being a social media influencer is to post on social media, and yet here we are," Garrett said flippantly, waving Andrew off, which annoyed the red head even more.

"How about you post on your feed then?  You know I hate posting, but especially this kind of shit that you put on there. It's so fucking embarrassing Garrett, and you know how I feel about everyone commenting on... well, you know..." he said, his voice trailing off, and Garrett shook his head.

"I don't think posting super handsome thirsty photos of you on my feed would have the same effect," Garrett said with a smirk. "And in case you weren't aware, now that we are making this an actual career as partners, we need to both pull our weight.  I provide the charming whimsy and quirky energy. You provide the sick camera skills and the thirst-trap bait for the female fans. You were slacking on your part, so I had to step in.  You should really be praising me for being such an amazing partner." He grinned at Andrew devilishly, and Andrew sighed, shaking his head to himself as Y/N's head volleyed back and forth between the two.

"What on earth are you two fighting about?" Y/N asked, thoroughly confused about what was going on.  "Do you guys really not realize how much you seem like an old married couple?  What is this?"

Y/N was friends with both boys, but she didn't know as much about them as they knew about each other. She'd met them when they'd come back from Washington State post-Covid. She'd moved to Los Angeles about three years ago to attend USC Law School from her native Illinois, and she'd been introduced to the two social media creators by her sorority sister Cailee, who was dating the boys' friend Jack.  Cailee and Jack lived together, but she had arranged for her best friend from college to live with another mutual friend Shannon.  After a year as roommates, Shannon got engaged and wanted her fiancee to move into her house, so Y/N had to move out.  Cailee and Jack surveyed the friend group and identified the only person they knew with a two bedroom apartment and no roommates. Andrew.  Thus started their journey living together, and while it was a tiny bit awkward at first, Y/N and Andrew had grown into excellent roomies and even better friends after the year living together.  Y/N adored the sweet hearted redhead, and she loved his loud and quirky best friend and work partner as well, but she still wasn't always able to follow their fast-paced and often crazy conversations.
