Reader Request: Andrew and his girl trying to get pregnant but it takes a while:)
Andrew and Y/N had been married for about 6 months, and it was the best 6 months of either of their lives. After a small wedding with just close friends and family held on the beach in Santa Monica, they'd both moved into Andrew's Hollywood Hills apartment and were in complete newlywed bliss. Y/N, a 26 year old L.A. native who owned a clothing boutique on chic Robertson Boulevard, was the girl of Andrew's dreams, beautiful, sweet and kind-hearted. He couldn't help but think she'd make the best mom in the world, and while the two had spent the better part of the past three years of their relationship trying everything they could to prevent getting pregnant, Andrew was starting to feel an itch ever since the day they tied the knot.
One spring day Y/N and Andrew drove from Hollywood to Pacific Palisades to visit with Y/N's best friend Celia and her husband Rob. The couple had just had a new baby about four months prior, and this was the first time Andrew was going to see Baby Jack since he'd been born. As the two visited with Celia, Rob and Jack, Andrew couldn't help but take notice of what a natural Y/N was with the baby. She easily held Jack while Celia took a break, cradling him in her arms, swaying him to sleep, and feeding and burping him when he woke up from his nap. Y/N was the oldest of four kids, and she was completely comfortable handling babies. Andrew, on the other hand, was an only child, and when Y/N handed Jack to him, he looked at her nervously, scared he'd break or drop the fragile infant. Rob laughed slightly, reassuring Andrew that he'd felt the same way, and while he wanted to refuse, something about the reassuring look Y/N gave him as she handed him the baby made him feel somewhat OK about holding him. Andrew gingerly held Jack, with Y/N reminding him to cradle his little head, and he looked at her with a mix of shock and awe at holding the little guy while Y/N smiled at him sweetly.
That night, as the two sat on the couch in their apartment, binge-watching The Crown, Andrew cleared his throat. "Baby," he started, wrapping his arms around his new bride as she rested her head against his chest, "can I talk to you about something?" Y/N nodded her head a little. "Of course, Andrew, you can talk to me about anything," she told him quietly, relaxing into him. "You might think I'm crazy," he said, hesitating a little bit, and his girl glanced up, smiling broadly at him. "I already think that," she teased, and he rolled his eyes. "Just kidding, what is it baby?" she asked sweetly, watching as her man scratched his neck nervously.
"Well, um, this might be kind of out of nowhere, but I have been thinking lately about... um, well, you know, I was wondering if you wanted to start... or if you were ready..." he stumbled over his words a bit and Y/N smiled at him reassuringly, her clear blue eyes staring up into his soft brown ones. "What is it babe?" she asked kindly, and he blushed a little bit before taking a deep breath. "I've been thinking a lot about whether we should, you know, try to have... like, a baby..." he said timidly, his voice trailing off nervously. Y/N looked up at him, her eyes wide, and she sat up out of his grasp to look him in the eye. He immediately grimaced, not sure how she would react, but he was relieved when her face broke into a beautiful smile. "Really, baby, you've been thinking about that?" she asked breathlessly, and he nodded shyly, looking down at his hands.
"I know it hasn't been that long since the wedding, but gosh, you'd just make the best mom ever, and I feel like maybe it's time to think about it," he said quietly, and Y/N put her hands on either side of his face, leaning in to kiss his lips softly. "You'll make the best dad," she said, her voice cracking a little bit. "That's all I want Andrew," she told him seriously. "I didn't say anything because I didn't know if you would think it was out of left field." She grinned and he couldn't help but grin as well. "That's what I thought you'd think when I said something," he said, smiling widely at her. "Great minds, huh?" she asked, and they both laughed. "How do we know if we're ready?" Andrew asked his love carefully, unsure of where to go from there, and she grabbed his hand in hers. "I don't know if we know, I don't know if you're ever really ready for it." She pushed a piece of her sandy-colored hair behind her ear. "I think it we both want it, and we feel like we've got the money and space and love to give, we just go for it and hope for the best." She paused, looking at him with sweet hopeful eyes, and he grinned.
