Y/N sat on her bed with her knees drawn up to her chin, clutching her phone, and she let out a big sigh. She'd just gotten off the phone with her mom, and she was beyond depressed. Her parents had been planning a trip to London over the Christmas holidays for months, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the holiday with Y/N's aunt and uncle and their family, who had been living in the UK for a few years. Y/N had planned to go as well, and had even bought her plane ticket so she could join her mom, dad, older brother Jared and his wife Stacie, as well as their two sons, Y/N's nephews, for the planned two-week vacation. But the past week at her work had been a nightmare, and after weeks of working her ass off to try to make time for the trip, she was unable to catch up, and she'd had to break it to her parents that she wouldn't get to join everyone for Christmas.

Y/N worked as an attorney at a prestigious entertainment law firm, the type of job which made her the envy of her law school classmates. She grew up in New Orleans, and she had wanted to work in the entertainment industry since she was a ninth grader and her all-girls private school hosted a career day, featuring a graduate who had gone to Los Angeles and become a talent agent. Ever since, Y/N had dreamed of doing something similar. After following the usual path of her peers, going to LSU and becoming a classic southern sorority girl, Y/N made the leap to L.A., attending USC Law School. While her high school and college friends got married and started having babies, the beautiful 26 year old lawyer used her perfect GPA and her classic beauty as a way to get noticed, and she landed an internship at a law firm who represented actors, models, and social media stars. After interning for six months, she was offered a spot as an associate attorney at her firm, and she was beyond thrilled. The job was a dream, but it also caused her to work an insane number of hours. She was scheduled to negotiate a major contract for one of her clients, an actress on a network teen drama, and the deadline was three days after Christmas. There was simply no way she could go to London during that time, and so she was afraid she'd be alone for Christmas.

As she sat quietly, staring at her phone sadly, in walked her boyfriend Andrew. Y/N had met him her first year at USC, when she was a busy first-year law student and he, an Illinois transplant intent on working in the entertainment industry. At the time, he was working freelance as a videographer for various YouTubers, and he was living with his roommates Carly and Erin in the same apartment complex where Y/N lived with her roommate Cameron. They met at a party Andrew's friend Ricky had thrown, and they clicked immediately. As Y/N spent the three years trying to become an attorney, she watched her adorable red-headed boyfriend go from working with his friends on their channels to working with Shane Dawson, and he went from a nameless faceless cameraman to a social media star as Shane "exposed" him and he started to appear on other channels. She supported him throughout, and he did the same for her, constantly encouraging her as she studied her way through school and worked like a fiend at her internship before landing her dream job. They were inseparable, and Y/N was completely smitten with her kind-hearted red-head.

Andrew immediately noticed the bummed expression on his sandy-haired girl's face and frowned, always hating to see her bothered or upset. "Baby, are you OK?" he asked sweetly, sitting next to her on her bed and putting his arm around her, a look of concern on his handsome face. "What is it?" Y/N sighed deeply, shaking her head a little as she told Andrew about the decision not to go to London. He felt terrible for her, knowing how much she had been looking forward to seeing her family and about the trip in general. A classic Southern girl, Y/N was extremely close to her parents, brother and sister-in-law, and Andrew had loved going to New Orleans with her the few times he'd been, finding the down-to-earth people, warm weather and contagious excitement of the city almost addictive. He knitted his brows, pulling her into his side and kissing her cheek gently.

"I'm so sorry, baby. I know how disappointed you must be," he told her sympathetically. She nodded slightly, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Thanks babe," she said quietly. "It's just, not only did I want to be in London and with my family and stuff, but it's Christmas. Now I'm going to be one of those sad people sitting alone eating take-out Chinese in my apartment and watching Its a Wonderful Life while everyone else hangs with their families." She sighed deeply as Andrew studied her, knitting his brows in thought. "What baby, you won't be alone! You have me," he said sweetly, and Y/N shook her head. "Andrew, you'll be in Algonquin with your family. I can't go with you either because of work, and I'd never ask you to skip being with your family on Christmas." Andrew looked at his beautiful girl, putting both arms around her and pulling her into a sweet hug as she laid her head on his chest, her arms coming around his back and resting on his shoulder blades. "Don't stress sweetheart, we'll come up with something OK," he told her, trying to reassure her as she shook her head slowly, not really believing him.
